That's not saying it WILL fail, just the ones that happen to, were all earlier runs. I got lucky when mine failed at rehearsals. You can get one to be safe, but it's gonna cost ya! ;)

Ha ha ha ha! That's EXACTLY what I thought. Everybody complains about the weight. Big woop! What do you expect? This thing sounds FANTASTIC! Don't even get me started on problems the brand-new Marshall's have had (with, pretty much, null customer support).

From your dealer, I'd assume this is new? Floor model? All the ones with tranny problems were first-run models '08-into '09. The hand-written "M" was just an indicator for a timeline to try to narrow it down to "early version". Mine was first-run with a bad one. That doesn't mean it should scare...

I've checked out the front-end circuit while I had mine apart. If I recall correctly, the input tip/hot heads directly into the grid of the first stage (V-1 tube), therefore, it should be just as good as any at taking pedals? You've given me an idea also. I honestly don't use all the channels...

hmmmmm..........tried it this morning. Been running it all day. Not noticing much difference in anything. Another thing I noticed, just for shits and giggles, is that you can, indeed, bias the tubes at half power. You might have to pull a pair of tubes, and that's why my manual said the bias...

yup, a quartet of el-84's with a bit more versatility and gain in the front but without channel switching. Maybe a foot-switchable gain-boost? Probably too complicated for a "Class build"? Dr. Z'ish would be nice, however.

just an update: New PT arrived, transplant went well, ran her for six hours without a hitch! Gig in two days. Can't wait! Boy, forgot how much I loved the CLN/VNT 2 channel ("DELUXE" all the way)
