Never hurts to ask. If a musician can make more doing vids, or at least bolster income by it, why wouldn't they?
Frankly I'm waiting for acts to just start streaming rehearsals or jams on Twitch. They'll likely find that after everything is factored in, it's more lucrative than playing live.

My understanding with hockey salaries is that quite a bit of what they make goes back to the players union as well. Understandable, given the injuries that can and do happen...
Messing around with inversions or secondary guitar lines helps, writing a melody over top of it might help 'direct' things as well. Transposing it to piano or some other instrument might also make you think outside the box. I've found that in many cases, just recording it so you don't forget...
I have a beat up old early 90's RG550, and will never part with it. It's like an old comfy pair of slippers...I see a pickup change in the future, but that's about it :)
my last album was a 5 string bass --> Tonehammer 500 --> Bergantino cab, mic'ed with an EV320. I was much happier with the results of this than what I got than the first go around, which was a combo of DI and re-amping (though I know others are very happy with just a DI bass tone)
