My arm is in a sling from being twisted. :D I did take a lot of time off to do more with my family and it has been great. I'm doing a few small jobs and am mulling over doing mods again but not at the same pace I was before. I have been talking with a lot of people about it so we'll see...
Two very different amps. The B+ voltage and filtering in the SLO keep it tight and clear and the 2 cathode followers are known to make it smooth which is part of the SLO's tone. Power tubes are another huge difference. A SLO can get more aggressive but you really need to crank it up. When...
It would take too long to explain, but here is how you want to wire in an extra gain stage. Just consider the added stage in the picture your extra triode and have it come in after the first stage. Depending on how hot your first stage is you are going to need to attenuate the new stage down...
That would be closer to channel 1 on my amp...the Jose/80's side. Aldrich is on the second channel of mine. Lots of good choices...hope you find what you need.

I just did one for a customer last month that wanted a cleaner mode on the 1st channel, so I added a toggle for that. It's closer to a "plexi" clean since this head does higher gain stuff. On other mods I do I can get some pretty stellar cleans but that wasn't my main goal with this particular...
There are some on my FB page and I can post some later this evening. On the Sunset Strip channel you get a Gain switch which has modes for the clipping type which are on the for the 1st channel. The other channel is based off of the Demon mod I do which is 4 stages. On the front the controls...
800.00 is for a brand new amp with new EL84 power tubes, USA made OT and the cosmetics. If you don't want all the extras, I'll do just the mods if you want as well...it's a lot of amp compared to what else is available.
I'm a big fan of Japanese made guitars from Charvel to Edwards. Here is a pic from a few years ago...still have the Goldtop but sold the other two but have replaced them with others.
The amp that I had was one that was a Golub modded ones and I didn't care for the way it was voiced. It could have been several variables...speakers, guitar/pickups etc but I jsut didn't care for it dry. Doug obviously has his rig setup in a way that it sounds awesome but I felt like there are...
It's all about the voicing on his amps. I talked to him about them at NAMM for a bit and he was very cool. Getting the tone is all about dialing in the master volume and then setting the gain and the lead tone especially in a larger venue. I've had one of those modded heads here and I...
