    Jackson USA RR1 ***SOLD***

That price is nuts. How has this not sold already?

FS: ESP Horizon w/ OHSC 1997

It was an insane deal and worse because I just kept getting lowballs which is why the price dropped lower than I had hoped. Seriously, the offers I was getting? $400, $500, $600, at best $650!! LTD prices. Oh well, it's SOLD now anyways.

FS: ESP Horizon w/ OHSC 1997

Selling my 1997 ESP Horizon. It's an amazing guitar and only selling it because I absolutely have to. The condition is excellent for being 20 years old. There's a small ding on the backside (pictured) and a tiny ding on one edge of the headstock that I couldn't get my camera to focus on. See...

    Bargaining with Sweetwater

They'll match only authorized retailers, but there are plenty of them on Reverb. I prefer buying from Sweetwater if it's new. Otherwise, 10% off is easy, I've gotten them to match 15-20% off coupons from Guitar Center too.

Most Dissappointing Piece of Gear You've Ever Bought?

Peavey XXX. Zero balance in the tones. Highs took from the lows, mids were worthless. I've heard other people make them sound good and it could've been something wrong with the one that I had, but I've owned a lot of Peavey heads and never thought of them as unworkable until that one. Maybe a...

EVH 5150 III 100 watt hisses and pop

I think this was a fairly common issue with the early run and a fairly easy fix, but you'll have to take it to an EVH tech.

The best LP style guitar that stays in tune?

+1 Big Bends EC1000s are great, but in all my throes of GAS benders, I've never thought about selling my Eclipse and I've sold 2 EC1000s and 1 EC400. They're great guitars, but they can set off some might Eclipse GAS and the ESP is a keeper. I forced myself to confront my hatred of Floyds and...

if you still gig with a 412 cab, why?

A 4x12 has a lot of power to it and can handle most situations. I've never played a venue where a 4x12 seemed like too much. I don't trust a lot of sound guys to really care enough to make sure my amp is sounding good enough, so a 4x12 at least has enough to give it a solid backing if the PA...

The best LP style guitar that stays in tune?

I definitely have had issues with 3x3 headstocks having less tuning stability than 6 in line. My ESP Eclipse II with a bone nut and Sperzel tuners does a hell of a job. I'm a fan of graphite nuts and string saddles, but don't often spring for them. If you're using 12s, then a wound 3rd should...

    String Venders Poll

Not on the coated, but a friend used the flatwounds and loved them. Curt worked for years at either D'addario or Ernie Ball, I can't remember, but he's a super friendly dude and fairly often is the one answering the phone when you call. Dude knows what he's doing for sure. I feel like the...

    String Venders Poll

+1 Curt Mangan Have not found a better string maker. Most of the people that have bought guitars from me have ended up buying a lot more strings from Curt.

    Bridge replacement

T3BP is for small posts, all of my LTDs and ESPs were large post so I used the T3BT on all of them and it fits perfectly. From the pics I've seen, the VMNT looks like a small post. Both Gotoh and Tonepros bridges for that size use the same sized String Savers: PS-8600-00. I've only put the...

    Thoughts on power attenuators

It seems like attenuators are more likely to be misused than most gear. I've heard enough good things to know that when you use one correctly, you can get great results, but if you don't know anything about Ohms and are trying to play a 100 watt amp on 8 in your bedroom, then you're going to...
