Probably a brighter, maybe ash-bodied 7 string. I love my J custom, but it's far too dark, especially with the crunchlab.

A buddy has both in an Avatar 2x12 and swears by it for recording purposes. Why not have both options? In terms of live use, similarly if you prefer one or the other you can just stick a mic in front of a specific speaker.

If you have other tubes around (even switching the ones already in the amp), why not shift them around and see if you can't find a pattern?

I second this. If you have disposable income enough for a Kemper or Axe FX, eventually you'll want the real thing and buy it. That's actually why I've registered on this forum, trying to get my post count high enough to post in the classifieds :D

I'm assuming this is a Kiesel build and not a Carvin? Usually the Kiesel branded guitars that I have been seeing have all the trans fretboard options, etc, I imagine there must have been other reasons why you went for this over a Carvin

I think the idea is that the send is mono. I suppose you can always use a line out, but it will have different impedance. BTW if you're considering buying one I have a nice minty unit sitting in front of me which doesn't get nearly the love it should.

I would first determine which key you are playing in, then figure out it's harmonization (which chords work within the key), and then then choose which scales you want to use over it.
