The Runt 50 is far from muddy in my experience - I actually run it with the Presence and Treble at 10 o’clock to smooth out the highs. It doesn’t have as much gain as some other “high gain” heads, so maybe that’s what you’re missing? A boost pedal might help in this regard, but if it’s muddy...

I was just thinking about it, and if the big amp is the “Double J”, this smaller version is the “Triple J” (JJJunior). It works with the letters, but it’s also kind of like AA and AAA batteries.

I am super excited for this amp - The JJ is my favorite Friedman, but I don’t need a 100 watt head and I have never been able to justify the cost. I will definitely be picking one of these up, and I look forward to seeing them become available.
