I would totally go with the Duncan Quarter Pounder. I have one in my HSH Charvel and it hangs well with the buckers and sounds fab. Kind like a cross between a single coil and a P90.
Too many to list and honestly, having tried probably 30 different ones, even though I prefer some over others - NONE of them sounded "bad," so tough to go wrong.
Right now I am gigging with my JCM800 2204 (to the chagrin of my bandmates who think I am too loud) and I am using a Wampler Tumnus...
He does? Hmm, he must have changed his stance on that because when I purchased a set of MarshallHeads 2006-ish he pretty much refused to do it and told me he tightens the covers so tight, it is not necessary. And as I feared, they squealed and whistled like a stuck pig, even under low gain...
I really like all the clips and YouTube vids I have seen of this set and have been considering them for my 1989 Les Paul Custom. What concerns me is the neck pickup specs. I know DC Resistance is not the end all/be all, but any neck bucker I put in my Les Pauls that are over the 8K range have...
Wait, really? Last I read on some other forums, lots of folks paying for pickups and never getting them or even a reply to inquiring emails. Jeez...I guess this explains it.
I have been down the cable rabbit hole for many decades and now simply use the D'addario PW-GRA cables and/or the MXR Pro Series cables. Both are supple, well built and low capacitance and most importantly, will not break the bank.
I have been a proponent of Lindy Fralin Vintage hots in all my Vintage style Strats. However, I will be swapping one set in my American Vintage '57 reissue to the Fender Pure Vintage 59's soon. For some reason, the Fralins sound darker and rounder than the original 57/62 pickups that were there...
I hate comparing anyone, especially 2 legends but Hendrix was SO much more of a "complete" guitar player than Clapton it's not even funny. Just his rhythm playing alone seals the deal. Clapton never played anything like Hendrix rhythm playing on Axis, Eric was more straight up blues. Albeit...
Personally, I would keep the JB but the OP mentioned he is not a fan. I can wholeheartedly suggest the Duncan Whole Lotta Humbucker set for that guitar.
