FWIW I used to own the original first run YJM, (circa 88?). with the smaller headstock. Few things came to mind right away: the current models have a way better neck. That's the main difference for me.
The 88 I owned had:
1- much smaller frets
2- the scallope was much shallower
3- the neck was...
Any help from you guys would be great:
Your favorite volume pedal? and best place to put it without altering the the original tone?
I used to have an Ernie Ball many years ago. It was really good but I can't remember the model.
Thanks.
Very interesting imput from you guys. The verdict is certainly mixed. Thanks for all the input.
The Floyd on my RC7 is of the lower end models, the sensitivity and response of the bar is very dull lifeless, even though it's floating, it lacks the bounce.
Anyone here upgraded their Floyds with brass block? A friend of mine replaced the block with a FU Tone brass one, he also got their noiseless springs and he said it really did make a difference in the sound, more low end and more sustain.
You guys have any experience in this?
both sounded great. But I still favor my 50w, with just one simple fact: it has a clean channel, at a press of a button. I'm sure if you bring down the gain on the Blue (on the LBX), you can get a good clean sound too, but who has the time to do that on a jam or a gig?
If the LBX has a clean...
take out both screws on top of the cab, pull out the latch on your head, it should go into the screw heads from the cab, put the thumb screws back on and tighten them until the head is secured on top of the cab. Now just push the latch on both sides of the cab out to tilt the cab up.
these are great points, man. I agree totally, just Ian Paice, he has a certain swing to his rock playing, even when they play straight 8ths. That's the thing about the Purple sound that people seldom talk about, Ian Paice and Jon Lord groove like muthafuckers.
I saw Al on the Tirami Su tour, 89...
You can't go wrong with the Sterling By Musicman line. Their guitars are top notch for under $1000 price point. I had the JP and it's pretty damn close to my JP6 US version. I upgraded the pickups and gigged with it for awhile. One of those guitars that really regretted selling.
