That's the way that attenuators are supposed to work yes. Some work better than others at bringing down the volume while preserving the tone though. I haven't used the Minimass so I can't comment about that specific unit but you should be fine. Let us know how you make out!

I am no amp tech by any stretch of the imagination but it sounds like maybe you have a bad power tube. Hopefully someone a lot smarter than myself will come along and give you some better help.

It seems the 16 Ohm version of the Torpedo Captor is totally sold out in the US and on back order. I tried getting one at the end of February and was told that they wouldn't be in stock until the end of May. Is that true? Is there any place that still has them? Thanks.
