Thanks, I was also hoping you could elaborate on how the amp sounds? What styles do you play, and how does this stack up for tight metal rhythms? Boost or no boost?
I've been through many speakers, and the M65's have consistently been my overall favorite. Some speakers do certain things better, but to me they sound like a superior greenback. I tried hard to like the EVH greenbacks but ultimately dumped them. Not a fan of the H75. Mesa V30's can sound good...
I picked one of these up from Guitar Center and I gotta say...I'm impressed. At volumes under about 95db it actually hangs with my bigger heads. Plenty full and warm like you'd expect from bigger bottles. I've only owned one EL84 based amp prior to this, so I don't have much experience but this...
My favorite setup for this so far is running my chosen amp into the Suhr Reactive Load IR, hi cut on, then line out into my 2150. The double impedance curves will naturally scoop your tone a bit, so an EQ between the SRL and poweramp is helpful for fine tuning. This setup left the Power Station...
Why is it gimmicky? Same reason someone would use an attenuator...drive the amp harder without the volume. Especially NMV amps.
Attenuators and even reampers are still a compromise. On paper, making the speaker the attenuator is the least invasive solution. I'll be curious to see if it...
Anyone else able to offer a review on this amp? I'm thinking about pairing it with a 2x12 and a small pedal board for a smaller practice/jam rig. Just can't convince myself to go all digital yet.
