Let us know what you think when you can actually play it. USACG offers a Superwide neck (1-7/8" width @ nut) that I think is a good idea, theoretically. I'd like to know what you think of the build quality.
Seymour Duncan 805. For me, OD pedals walk a fine line when it comes to EQ controls. I don't care for the single 'Tone' control but companies that throw in the 2 or 3-band EQ can just make things needlessly complicated. I think Duncan got it right with the 805.
Oh, and while it's not a...
Dimarzios are for guys that consider riffs to be something they play in between solos and Duncans only sound good in Les Paul's/Mahogany guitars and EMG's sound the same in a 2x4 as they do in a $2000 guitar.
You'd be surprised at what big pickup makers haven't thought of.
I don't think Randall is making modules any longer. As I heard it, modders like Salvation Mods and Jaded Faith bought up a bunch of Randall's unsold module stock?
If I had the cash, I'd get a RM100 and some modified modules. Kinda scary what modders can make those stock MTS modules into. The RM100 gets +100000 points for allowing you to rebias for almost any tube you can cram in a guitar amp.
Custom USA BC Rich Warlock Deluxe (3x3 traditional headstock, hardtail, 45mm width at nut)
Warmoth/whatever custom superstrat (45mm at nut, hardtail)
Gibson ES335
AxeFX
Randall RM100 w/modded modules
Rhodes Colossus
Retro-sonic Phaser
Duncan OD (the new one)
HBE Frostbite Analog Flanger
Every rare-ish piece of gear that Dimebag used (like the rackmount flanger/doubler) goes for a lot more than it would otherwise. I don't think Dime used the 200w ES models but the ES amps are supposed to be the best Randall heads. The RG80ES heads are easier to find and usually cheaper...
I finally got the chassis open. Last guy stuffed it with GT's and Sovtek 12ax7WA's. Everything else looked clean; none of the burned up wiring you see people posting when their VL needs modding (Preamps were GT's and Sovtek 12ax7WA's).
Taking my first step into NOS territory, I bought an...
Upon further reading, a good NOS tube is said by many to be the best v1 tube, even if one uses modern tubes for the rest.
Where should I look for NOS 12ax7's? There are a lot of sites, but I know nothing about brands or what to avoid.
Speaking of Washburn, their mid-90's Mercury (MG) series that Grover Jackson designed had a fairly thick neck for a superstrat (if memory serves). They're great guitars (my first electric was a MG-44), can be had for a song on ebay and the USA models are supposed to be amazing.
Unfortunately...

The Fender Blacktop Strat has 22 frets and a Floyd. I don't know if the Floyd is crap or not.
Never checked out the PRS Torero, but considering that almost all PRS necks are a safe...
So I got a VL503 for 399 from GC. If this thing has ever been retubed in the past 20 years, it was with cheap crap tubes. I can't tell what tubes are in there because the chassis has to be removed in order to change the preamp tubes (there are 6). Right now, the 2nd and 3rd channels are muddy...
