I get head covers and stack 'em up like prisoners at Abu Ghraib prison. Every once in a while I'll pull one out of the pile just to abuse the fuck outta it, then toss it back into storage. I make them stand on the end with the transformer on the bottom just for further humiliation.
Hell, I really dug the SL-X. Getting it modded by Brent Gutierrez made it even better. I'd do that again before I bought one of these new Marshall heads.
IMO my only next Marshall move is a 46and2. Cheaper than the new "modded" Marshalls and definitely metalAF.
I love no positioning markers on the fretboard, a lot of my customs are nekked...but I love a fancy custom inlay going across the board. The stuff Ken Lawrence does is superb.
Nope. As a thrash rythym payer, I only use a gate. When I played bass as a teenager I plugged straight in and went to town. I've ran an eq in the loop a couple of times on certain amps, but I'd rather not. There was a 4 year period when I was in the Navy where I had a huge rack full high end...
I had one modded by Brent Gutierrez. Loved it big-time. Loaned it to mailman Dan when he was ampless and he dug it too. I'd do it again if I wasn't already loaded with great Marshalls.
Played bass for 5 years before switching to guitar in '84 or so. First guitar came outta a bros closet that was full of junk. He played 9s. Strings felt like wimpy rubber bands underneath the onslaught of my mighty gorilla mitt that was flailing at them with a pick that was thick as a brick...
