    String Swing installation advice

OK, I called SS customer service just after this and they gave me two suggestions. I guess I could nuke this thread, but I'll leave it intact in the chance it might be helpful to anyone. They recommended just mounting it to 2 studs and having the 12" overhang on each side with the caveat that I...

    String Swing installation advice

Got a problem. Looking for solutions. I'll reach out to String Swing today, but figured I'd ask here first in case anyone has run into a similar situation. Wanting to install the String Swing 5 guitar hanging system with the mounting rail that measures 48", but the studs in my house are 24"...

Eddie Van Halen 1984 Rehearsal Jam part 1 SOUNDBOARD

Yeah, it’s cool to hear little tidbits here and there, with alternate studio takes and stuff that’s been released over the past couple years. It has reaffirmed my belief that we got the best stuff on those original Warner Bros. releases. I just wish they would’ve made more music. I think Van...

Eddie Van Halen 1984 Rehearsal Jam part 1 SOUNDBOARD

Not a shot at you OP, but some of EVH genuflection online since his passing is starting to make me cringe. Case in point, that YouTube comment. I’m as big an EVH fanboy as you can find, but now I wish he was still alive just so people would stop trying to wax poetic about his musical leftovers...

Sold my dream amp. What's next?

Congrats on relieving your debt, OP! Lots of ball busting replies, but your peace of mind is worth more than any piece of gear. I second the Splawn QR. Great amps at a reasonable price.

    My first broken guitar

Sorry to hear that! Over the years I’ve seen you post more cool NGDs than I could count. Unless you own an airplane hanger, there was no way you were keeping them all, so I figure with that volume of transactions one broken headstock is definitely doing pretty good.

    whats everyone been listening to??

That damned Joe Hendry entrance theme got stuck in my head. I didn't think that was possible anymore. At least there's a PRS in the video.

EVH Original vs Peavey 5150 Combo vs Friedman The Plex.

Man, that 5150 combo sounds great. Definitely the winner between the two clips. My brother had a 2x12 5150 combo in the mid 90s. Heavy as hell, but sounded so good. I think he traded it in for a reissued Ampeg Reverberrocket. ?

    New Mr. Big

I don't hate it, but not one of my favorite Mr. Big tracks either. I'll take a mediocre MB track over 95% of trending music on any streaming service. Here's the other single from the upcoming album. Heavy Manic Depression vibe.

Is the Marshall DSL 20 loud enough for a gig?

Yeah, I don’t get TGP’s love affair with small combos. Who are these drummers they’re playing with? I’m mostly a home player, but I jam with some childhood friends periodically. Rock stuff. My buddy on drums has MS, yet if I bring an amp lower than 50 watts he will totally drown it out.

Did EVH play a Stratocaster on the "So This is Love?" solo?

Leaning towards what @NorCal_Val says. Solo sounds similar to earlier in the track where he’s riding the volume pot. Such a great tone and a great tune.
