    New Cab & K100s

You may want to try 6L6s to smooth out the sound. I thought the Herbert was a bit sharp/harsh when playing leads. I use the Herbert with Mesa 212 and Mesa 412 cabs loaded (Vintage 30s). I'm using Seymour Blackouts and EMG 81s. So I tried 6L6s and 6L6s/EL34s in an attempt to smooth out the sharp...

    A/B-Y Diezel VH4 with Herbert

I have a VH4S and a Herbert. The sound is amazing when running them at the same time. Certain channels will be out of phase with each other. When they are out of phase, it sounds like the low frequencies have been sucked out. The following channels are in phase with each other: Herbert's 3 +...

    Diezel VH4 and G Major 2

Define True-Bypass: A pedal with no buffer circuit driving the "downstream" output cable when it is turned off. The input and output become hard wired together to pass the dry signal thru. The opposite of a buffered pedal. TC G System and G Major 2 do not have true-bypass. Eventide factor...

Diezel Herbert Vs. Hagen Vs. VH4 (Best vid demos out there)

I own the VH4S and the Herbert Mk2. I find myself preferring the Herbert one month and the VH4 the next. So I love them both. The Herbert handles tunings lower than Drop C# noticeably better than the VH4. With the right humbuckers, the VH4 can get great classic rock vibes in channel 2 that the...

What did you guys pay for your Heads?

Diezel VH4S was $4500 new... free shipping. Diezel Herbert Mk2 was $3750 new... free shipping.

    Diezel VH4 and G Major 2

I own the VH4S and the Herbert(MK2). I have owned the Axe Fx Standard, G System, G Major 2, Eventide TimeFactor, and Eventide PitchFactor. The TC stuff sucks tone. You will notice the VH4 sounds less punchy and clear when the G Major 2 (or G System) is in the serial effects loop. The TC...

Herbert & MXR 10 Band EQ

I just started using the MXR 10 Band EQ in the serial loop of the Herbert yesterday. I believe it works very well. The advantage of the MXR EQ is that it is more precise in the frequencies affected than the Herbert's MIDCUT. I have it set up like this: MXR EQ = slight cut at 500...

    Mesa V30s

Am I the only person that prefers Mesa Vintage 30s that are NOT broken in? From my experience with one Mesa 412 and two Mesa 212s that I purchased, they sound great at first and gradually become less defined in the mids. They get more saggy as they age. I like the tight and...

Can the Herbert safely run with KT88 and 6550 ?

    Thanks. I will avoid KT88 and 6550. ;)

Can the Herbert safely run with KT88 and 6550 ?

Can the Herbert safely run with KT88 or 6550 without overheating? My Herbert is "Mk2". I have a few medium sized fans that I could use to keep it cool. The Herbert gets very hot now and it is running 4xEL34 and 2x6L6.

    Winged C EL34s = smoke :-(

I tested the Screen Grid Resistor and it is broke. I'll buy a new one and my friend (amp tech) will help me put it in. Thanks!

    Winged C EL34s = smoke :-(

I purchased a matched quad of Winged C SED EL34s for the VH4S. The switch was set to "EL34". I put the Winged C EL34s in the amp and used the Weber Bias Rite to check the bias with the new tubes. I noticed that one of the tubes had really low current (4-7) while the other tubes were much higher...

    Diezel Einstein + what delay?

 Use these in the Serial/Switchable loops in the Diezel Herbert/VH4 for best tone: #1 -- Eventide TimeFactor (does not suck tone; no comb-filtering; MIDI presets; did I mention this does NOT suck tone in the Serial Loops of Diezel Amps? A+ delay pedal; DOES NOT REQUIRE HUM ELIMINATOR)...

    Eventide TimeFactor

Pros: Excellent sound quality!! Delay algorithms are all very good Does not require Ebtech HumEliminator to eliminate ground loops Sucks less tone than ANY other digital processor I've owned (Axe Fx, G System, G Major 2) Save presets Can be controlled with MIDI Tap Tempo Dual Delay Setting the...

What damage occurs if EL34/6L6 switch not set correctly?

Thanks Peter. But is it possible that anything other than the Hum-Trim-Potentiometer would have been damaged after the VH4 had been running for only one second with the bias switch (EL34/6L6) set to EL34 when there are 6L6 tubes in the VH4?
