That's mine, and yep it's an '83. This one also has the bare/oiled neck, no lacquer, from factory, and bigger frets. Amazing player, going to keep it until my fingers fall off.
Speaking of guitars I couldn't get rid of fast enough, I also had a 2021 Nightswan and I thought it was decidedly...
Here's what mine looks like at the moment. Amps on the shelves are doubled up, so there's a front row you can see in the pics and another row behind that lol. Still some overflowing into the corner of the room there... work bench and computer behind the camera.
Hey, Rivera Knucklehead II, any chance you've had a K-Tre and compared them? They look extremely similar but the II has those pull switches on the gain channel. Would love to hear them both side by side.
No 80s era Kramers had ebony boards except for the Proaxe, Nightswan, and Stagemasters.
That's fine, more for me lol
It's a sad day when the quality of a guitar is based on how tight a tolerance is on a CNC machine.
PS you can just say what you are talking about or post a link, we know how to...
I'm a huge Kramer fan, but maybe I'm being too uptight but none of the current production stuff speaks to me like the 80s stuff.
Pacers with beak headstocks but don't play or sound like the old beaks.
No pointy models that aren't weird like a signature model something or other.
Bang for the...
This is gorgeous. I have a 25th anniversary poundcake, I wonder how it compares.
Question, why are there two knobs for clean, two knobs for heat, and what does the rhythm knob do?
Mine has different controls, crunch/meat/heat each has a gain and then I have two master volumes. No double knobs...
I have one of these, and I definitely wouldn't recommend it for everyone. It's very unique, for sure, crazy amount of mids, honky. It's very cool to hear it alongside a couple of other Splawns I have and see his "journey" so to speak as a tone designer. Clearly the tone he liked best in 2003 is...
This has been a great read. In the spirit of the original post though - some of you guys need to use less generalizations.
Like the "all diezels" or "all engls" or "all H&K" people. Name the ones you played, and if you say you played them all:
----
As for me, I'll give a little story on each...
Sounds pretty killer in your video there. Lots of cut, very dynamic. You get some great tones out of it.
I also have an older HR50+ like yours. Just a really fun amp to plug in and rock out, sounds good at a lot of different settings. I think mine might have original 5881's too, but I'm not...
I can't believe the price difference is so close - I remember like 10 years ago the JVM410 was almost $1000 more than the JVM210. I think I remember seeing the JVM410 being $2999 just last year?
I don't expect there will be many JVM2's on the used market with the prices so close now... maybe...
Ah nice to have it confirmed by the man who actually designed it. I'm just working from the schematic here, but on that thread Santiago says:
Exactly what I was talking about in my post above. Sweet.
He also says:
That rings true with what I said earlier about why I sold my JVM the first time...
That's a great trick for OD2, might have to give that a try myself. Kinda hard to tell how good it sounds with the reverb and delay but it's certainly a convincing overall package the way he shows it. I suspect taking the resonance to max is not going to sound very plexi like in an actual room...
Someone said on an earlier page they prefer multiple guitars but fewer amps
Someone else said they are the opposite (sorry forgot the names by now 10 pages in)
I used to collect guitars and only had a couple of amps but I've been moving towards the 2nd one. Selling off guitars and keeping...
