My daughter was gifted an Epi White Flying V (she’s a huge Metallica fan) however it has a large crack in the neck.
I need to bring it in for repair, so I am wondering if anyone has recommendations for a luthier around Chicago. Preferably SW suburbs - Orland Park/Joliet area.
Thanks
My Tele pickups are both microphonic (the bridge more than the neck), but I absolutely LOVE their tone. They are CS '51 Nocasters and while the standard hum doesn't bother me at all, they do start to squeal when the volume gets up there and/or gain is added.
So, if I have them wax-potted...
Does anyone have one? Played one?
I've been gassing for one of the handwired Vox AC30's real bad, but they seem to be littered with reliability issues (made in China). Anyways, in doing my research I stumbled across the Valvetech Hayseed 30, which is an AC30 clone made by a guy in Indiana...
They've been out for a few months now but I still have yet to see one in a store. There also aren't many reviews out there. Has anybody checked one out yet? If so can you share your impressions?
The question is which one? I love my '71 Deluxe Reverb and don't plan on parting ways with it. That said, I'd like my next Fender to have a little more clean headroom and a tighter low end. Also must take pedals well.
I'm looking at the following:
Super Reverb - I've never played one...
Specifically the AC15C1 and AC30C2 - anybody own one? The demos sound pretty good and they are pretty cheap - $599 for the AC15 and $999 for the AC30.
Just wondering if anybody owns one and has any thoughts to share.

I've basically settled on these to be the replacements for my current SCN's in my Am Dlx Strat (I have a feeling I wont be missing the S-1 switching)
They seem to get solid reviews, but I just wanted to see if any of you guys had experience with them and comment accordingly. Thanks
Well, I'm scheduled to close on my first house on June 19th, and of course my only concern is what to do for a music room.
I'd like to see what your guys' look like. Maybe I can steal some cool ideas :D
So my band has been using this guy's PA for a while (a former bandmate of one of my current bandmates) and he needs it back. Therefore, we need to buy a new PA. The problem is that I (or any of my bandmates) really don't know shit them. We would like to go with a more professional setup and...
I'm looking to create some sort of straplock for my LP. The guy gave me a set of Dunlops when I bought the guitar, but I hate the way they look and I've read a decent amount of horror stories.
I suppose I could get some Schallers. I have them in my strat, but I worry about all that LP weight...
I'm looking to pick up a new cab for my DSL. There are a few on CL that are in the $400-$450 range, but I'm looking at an hour drive just to go test them out. Reviews seem good overall, but some complain that the highs are quite harsh, which doesn't seem like a good mix for the bright DSL. I...
Love:
- bound fretboard (except on strats/teles, of course)
- dark sunbursts
- transparent blue or green finishes
- chrome hardware
Hate:
- to much "bling", or flashiness
- I may take some heat for this, but I HATE the look of soapbar pickups
- guitars with 3 full-size humbuckers

I simplify the square root of (36+x^2) to 6+x, right? Any stupid algebra rules preventing it?
Sorry, I haven't taken Algebra since my sophomore year in high school so I'm a little rusty :D
