It is one of the best deals in the range though, I myself would still get the 5153 50watt with a 2x12 for 1k, and deal with no effects for one show. Maybe even grab a crappy fx model pedal to pull off any effects you might "need".

He needs a cab too though, a 5153 and a cab with effects for 1k? I dunno thats a tall order Maybe a 6505+ I see these for 700ish with a cab?
