    Bright rails style strat bridge

Chopper is definitely not woofy! I took out the two Duncan Hot Rails bridge ones, that were in the middle and neck positions of my Kramer SM-1, because they were woofy and dark. Chopper is much leaner and open sounding. I replaced the middle pickup with a Lil' 59 mid/neck one. Also an...

    Bright rails style strat bridge

Dimarzio Chopper is my go-to for rails that combine the best of single and hum tones, while handling high gain well.

Put a JB in the bridge on my guitar..

A Tubescreamer will tighten up the low-end, sure, but it can't always handle the JB's high-mid screechiness, which in itself is VERY guitar-dependant. The JB was the best bridge pickup in a Korean Hamer Californian (Slammer Series) bar none. But in some of my Les Pauls, meh. Prefer the Custom/59...

Who the hell is Grace Bowels...or Bowers???

So basically it takes someone really unhinged (Larry anyone?) to turn something in a 20+ page thread, full with insults back and forth.

Poll: What's your favorite Neck pickup type? (hum, split hum, single coil, etc)

Try a Duncan Screamin' Demon in the neck, full humbucker or split. I like those tones you described too, including John Norum and Warren DeMartini. And otherwise, DiMarzio Chopper (single sized rail humbucker) or a split Air Norton. Those give lovely tones. I don't care for muddy humbuckers...

    Fryette Ultralead/CLX/Sig X

My experience as well with the Sig:X; that Rhythm channel is the shizzle and really can cover a lot of ground. But I grew tired of the dry KT88 tone...more of an EL34 guy myself. And while it had plenty of gain, it was the type of gain that made you feel like you wanted even more...in a tight...

    The power of pickups

DCR does not equal output, if you were hinting at that.

If I were to run a Distortion Pedal ......

I don't get @Rocker68 s post. I recently built a Thermionic Deluxe myself *while* still owning the original Friedman pedal. For sho they sound 98% the same. My only tweak out of necessity was to swap the two 2.2nF caps with 3.3nFs. Brings out a tad thicker mids. It's my favorite pedal these...

    The power of pickups

Should work then. The C/59 Hybrid is a hefty medium, not high output. I use it mostly in a 70s/80s classic rock/hard rock coverband. Custom 5 is nice as well with a bigger (but still toight) low end, but lacks some of the mid kerrang and sizzle that the C/59 Hybrid has. C5 is maybe more...

    The power of pickups

Well, an Alnico 8 loaded pickup (especially in a Les Paul) might just be darker than a Custom/59 Hybrid. I have one in my main LPC and it is a great pickup. Paired it with a Pearly Gates neck. 🤘

Suggestions on Dimarzios for Alder Super Strat ?

Thing is, I'm in Europe, and here that exchange thingy doesn't apply. But for now I'm good... well, maybe a mix between the Norton and Super D with more low-end, but good kerrang and sweet highs would be a nice to have for that Charvel.

Yes, but not for the public eye. 😅 :p

Suggestions on Dimarzios for Alder Super Strat ?

Reading your OP again, the Norton would definitely be the ticket! I had a SuperD in my alder Charvel So-Cal (Superstrat) and indeed it was a tad much. Originally it came with the ToneZone, which was ok-ish, but a tad loosey-goosey in the low-end. After taking out the SuperD, I went with the...

Suggestions on Dimarzios for Alder Super Strat ?

I tried the Air Norton once in the bridge of a Les Paul standard, pretty cool sound, especially for classic rock. But it ended up in the neck position with an AT-1 in the bridge. For the alder Strat I second (or third) the regular Norton as well. Very curious about the Evo2. I found the original...

Engl peeps - Seen this new Fireball 25 KT77 Edition?

@napalmdeath do you still have the Bogner 3534 or a 5150III 50W version to compare it to?

Engl peeps - Seen this new Fireball 25 KT77 Edition?

Yep, I've done some recording through a Two Notes Torpedo Live, and while my Savage 60 (2x EL34) slays for tight rhythm, for leads actually the small Ironball (2x EL84) was preferred! Kinda curious about this KT77 Fireball; I sorta miss a switchable gain-boost option on it like the Ironball...

    Ebony board maintenance

I have this, but isn't it way too thick and oily to even be absorped in a fretboard? My ebony boards don't need much cleaning either, since the wood is so dense, but on an old HCGF advise, I bought this tiny bottle of Be a Fifer Fret Doctor oil (link: https://beafifer.com/boredoctor.htm )...

What pedal would you like to see resurrected ?? brought out of retirement .... reintroduced to the livng world ??

How bout a good challenge: DOD 690 Chorus in a 1590BB enclosure, with the 2 speeds that you can toggle between and it gradually ramps up/down between them. The required SAD chip will be the difficult part.

    Marshall 1960A 4x12 Cabs - Opinions?

I like the BX versions, but not the standard 'A' with modern T75's. It's hard to describe, but it's like the sound sort of 'gathers' maybe 10 feet in front of the cab, very projectionally, but if you walk around on stage (playing live perspective), you have these tremendous 'dips' in tone and...
