IME the balance of 6-8 string tone is easier with multiscale tone. I love Ibanez RG2228’s but you sacrifice clarity on the 27” scale. Had an M80M, and it was amazing on the lows, but was too nasally anything above the 7th string...
If that’s your options I would pick the Friedman over the Mesa.
I’ve never found the Mesa stuff to work well with the Marshall style amps. I’ve had trads, OS’s, and the 212. Too middy almost harsh, in my experience. Btw these are great cabs they just didn’t work with the Marshall style...
I’ve tried a black heaven in a Les Paul before. IMO too low mid scooped. Sounded very clean/choked.
the One might be my favourite Les Paul pickup so far. More body/growl while still manages that tight Lundgren low end.
haven’t played the ceramic BH, but I found the Alnico set to be pretty hollow sounding and very high mid heavy. Preferred the M6 by far. I assume the ceramic would fix that.
