Curious about these too. OP...did you ever end up trying these?

    Bass anyone?

Primarily a guitar player, but I have a MIM Fender Jazz Bass with Dimarzio Pickups, Emerson kit and Flatwound strings. For what I need, it's is perfect. Thinking about getting a Headrush MX-5 strictly for bass. They're relatively inexpensive and have just about everything I would need for the...

    Josh Homme Discussion

I dig early Kyuss. Never really thought about chasing Josh's tone though. I guess I'll continue to dig early Kyuss....while still not caring about his tone. I'm thoroughly enjoying the commentary of this thread though. :ROFLMAO:

I see a lot of new faces here

Actually been a member here for a bit, but lurked more than posted. I've been a member of another site...which will remain nameless....for a very long time. But as some of mentioned, that site has gotten a bit "soft". I also grew tired of posting opinions only to have them be dismantled and...

    Any IPA fans here.

Yellow Rose from Lone Pint. I have yet to find better. Killer brew! Pliny the Elder when I can get my hands on it...which is rare in my part of Texas.

Pickup recommendations for a Dunable R2

It currently has the Slugwolf pickups. They aren't "bad"...actually sound pretty good. Maybe a little vanilla for what I intend to do with this guitar. I played it again last night and that was my main takeaway. Reminds of hot PAF's. Good output, good neutral sound, not harsh but tuned to...

Pickup recommendations for a Dunable R2

Think Corrosion of Conformity circa "Blind" and evolving into "Deliverance". Blind has some great 90's era chunky, modulated goodness while Deliverance shifts more towards the stoner vibe, while still brutally heavy. Elder has some righteous tones I'd like to mimic. REZN also has some...

Pickup recommendations for a Dunable R2

Recently acquired a Dunable R2 in a trade.... It's going to be dedicated to heavy metal, doom/stoner type stuff in my stable of guitars. It's tuned to D with the occasional drop C. Right now it is strung with 10-52 gauge strings but I will probably change to 11-52. The guitar is 25.5" scale...

    How to pack an amp

First thing I do is put the amp head in a plastic trash bag and tape it up good to eliminate, or at least minimize, the potential for moisture nearing the chassis. When peanuts are used, it creates a barrier for those as well. Peanuts are a last resort, but have come in handy to fill spaces...

So which production EL34s actually sound good enough to buy?

I've got Tung Sol EL34's in a Rivera S-120 and they sound really good. Prior to that were Winged C's which lasted forever and were killer. I think I've got JJ's in my Friedman BE50 Deluxe and they sound good too. As far as new production, JJ's seem to be the most cost effective.

Pantera Rig Rundown with Rex Brown & Zakk Wylde 2024 Tour

Zakk certainly has his sound, which I dig, Dime had his sound too, which I also dig. Cool to see Zakk give it a go his own way. Filling Dime's shoes is no easy task. The guitars he's playing....yikes.

    MC II + SD-1 = Crazy good

Looking forward to trying this out as well. I've got an SD-1 Waza for boosting a Mesa Single Rec...a classic combo in my opinion. I'll report back when I get my hands on the MC2.

    El Estaparios new band

Not sure what I was expecting either....figured something more on the fusion-y side with how technical his chops are. He's a damn robot. Makes the crazy difficult look almost natural.

    Choosing a Diezel....

Almost 4 years later and here I am....No Diezel. Actually ended up with a Friedman BE-50DLX for this gig. Worked great for this particular gig. Now I'm struggling again. But this time between a Diezel and a Wizard. Apples and oranges I know..... GAS never goes away.

    Choosing a Diezel....

Virgin post here on Rig-Talk.... I'm a long time member of TGP...don't throw anything at me please. Anyway.... For the last 15 years I've rocked a Rivera S-120 combo as stereo pedal platform. I briefly went down the Fractal rabbit hole but emerged without harm. I recently got tapped to...
