definitely love the Engl Fireball. Once I sell off my smaller Engl Ironball and Bogner Uberschall then I plan to get one. It is a nice modern high gain amp that would complement my Mezzabarba well.I just fixed my Uberschall with new preamp tubes so will list it for sale.
understand but for me using a miked amp is a royal PITA with cables and shit all over the place and for convenience and recording at home, the cab features with tube goodness of the Revv are very attractive. But I get it- folks want different taste. That is why the large variety of amps is so...
definitely try one out before deciding is the best bet. Before I played one, my thought was it would suck but I was pleasantly surprised how great it sounded at low volumes. If I was playing live, I would use my Mezzabarba but for home recording either the Revv or an amp modeler is the way to go.
not sure what amp version of the Revv you guys played but the one I tried out sounded crushing and massive with clear articulation of notes under very high gain purple and red channels. Plus great studio recording features are better than most tube amps except for perhaps the Diezel VHX. I mean...
I enjoyed the Revv Generator 120 MK3 that I tried recently but then played an ENGL Fireball that felt more raw and visceral. Plus an ENGL Fireball 100 is way less expensive. I need to try a Diezel Herbert and few more amps.
right on and I am in no rush since I still need to sell off a few amps and guitars first. I probably will replace my HX stomp as well with a better modeler like the Fractal or Kemper at some point to get more amp and fx models not available on Line 6 modelers.
I get it you guys do not like the hi fi modern Revv and Engl tones. For me, it is great sound I want for recording. I already have an amp modeler and the real amp sounds way better.
cool so would smolski engl be better over the fireball? engl makes so many different models. I am leaning toward the revv at this point just so many great tone options and features for studio recording.
Well I play at home solo not in a band so that is not an issue. I want modern high gain tones for death metal, thrash metal and black metal. Anyways, I had a chance to try out a Revv Generator 120 and ENGL Fireball 100 today and loved these amp tones so much in spite of how much folks here hate...
indeed and once I sell my uberschall twinjet , Engl Ironball, and mark v, that frees cash for a Herbert, VHX or Engl Savage or similar modern metal amp to complement my Mezzabarba MZero Overdrive that has more classic Marshall Soldano roots.
