    Langner pre-amp

I had my ADA MP1 modded by Todd, as well. I was an idiot and gave it (for nothing) to Joey Z from Life of agony after I got back from touring with them

    Langner pre-amp

Hand built by Todd Langner in the bay area. Does anybody remember these? My old bandmate used to have one and it absolutely crushed. How much would one of these go for nowadays? I haven't seen one listed in a long time but I'd be curious to pick one up.

Last time I saw him was pre-pandemic, and if memory serves me correctly, he was just playing a combo. No Orange yet.

Forget how much this record kills !

Just a little insight to that record. They mostly hated it. It was hastily thrown together so that they could jump on that aforementioned Priest/Megadeth tour. They were riding the deserved success of "Practice what you preach" and felt that they rushed Souls out just to have something to push.

Forget how much this record kills !

Oh yeah, that was a great tour. Kinda weird. It was the tour where Louie just up and left the band before a gig in Ventura. Paul Bostaph had just joined Slayer and had to come out and save the tour. It was also their first tour without Alex. He did one show at the Warfield and then handed...

    Marcus King

I've seen him about 5 times now and he is absolutely stellar each time. He's a triple threat... Sings his ass off, monster guitar player, and crafty songs. He is easily my favorite artist in the world right now.

Forget how much this record kills !

I was the guitar tech for Testament at this show. There was a point during the show where people were standing behind the backline and tripped and pulled Glen's speaker cord out of a cabinet. I was about to kill the guy who did it but I had to scramble back there and plug it back in. I don't...

Albums that desperately need to be re-recorded/re-mixed or even re-mastered

I think there were more than a few early Shrapnel records that had horrific tone! Richie's was the worst, but Greg Howe's was pretty close. Not necessarily for the guitar tone tone, but that god awful Billy Sheehan tone killed that record. I think the first Shrapnel records guitar tone that I...

I think that is still his best one! The "NO MORE!" part gets me every time!

4x12 cabinet to pair with my Friedman JJ-100

I've seen a lot of people speak highly of the Friedman 2x12. Of course, I wouldn't mind having a smaller cabinet to lug around if it didn't sound marginally different than a 4x12, but I'm curious as to if there is a noticeable difference. Anybody with experience with both a Friedman 4x12 AND...

4x12 cabinet to pair with my Friedman JJ-100

I’m not exactly sure, to be honest. It’s a 1960A from around 2003.

4x12 cabinet to pair with my Friedman JJ-100

I run my JJ with a slant front Marshall right now and I love it, but I’m curious as to what other cabs would sound good with it. What other sound profiles are you getting from your cabinets when paired with a Friedman? I play in an old school old school hardcore/metal band but I’m also looking...

    Friedman BE-Mini 30

I was looking to pick up one of these as a last resort backup to my JJ-100 that I could just throw in my backpack for live gigs. (I have no intention of using it as a main amp). What are your impressions of it? Sound, reliability, volume, portability, etc. I saw the Ben Eller video on it a...

    Shrapnel Records

Tony MacAlpine is maybe my overall favorite. Jason Becker the most jaw dropping Greg Howe the most tasty Michael Lee Firkins had the best recorded tone Paul Gilbert the most inspiring and iconically groundbreaking.

A HUGE band you saw before they broke?

A little story about Disturbed on that Ozzfest tour... My band, Systematic, was playing second stage on that tour and Disturbed was originally slated to headline the second stage. We had one rehearsal day in Chicago and then the first show was there, as well. Disturbed, being home town...

A HUGE band you saw before they broke?

I saw Pantera play a small club in SF (The Stone) when "Cowboys from hell" came out. They destroyed the place and it was clear they were destined for greater things. I also saw Living colour at Berkeley square just after "Vivid" came out. There was maybe 50 people there. I was so close...

    Friedman amp advice

Thank you so much for such an informative answer. I know I’m referencing Marshall a lot but I’m trying to take a slight left turn from them right now. Just a SLIGHT left turn. I have a good friend who works for Marshall who is hushedly lamenting their build quality right now. I’d like to steer...

    Friedman amp advice

So, as stated in a thread I posted here yesterday, my Marshall DSL 2000 (which I loved the sound of) has crapped out just one too many times for me. I’m interested in getting one of the various Friedman amp heads. I haven’t been able to try them all out so I‘m curious as to which one I shouId...

    Marshall DSL 2000 issue

Thanks for the great info. I guess I was mostly looking to see how many people have had the same issue and if I should start looking for a similar sounding replacement.
