    Seymour Duncan Alt-8 SH-15/TB-15

I didn't find it to be like the JB or Distortion. Kind of its own thing. Less upper mid attack than either the JB or Distortion. Low-end chunk more like a Custom.

Bogner Uber Ultra - A complex, complicated Monster

It is versatile in how you can dial it in, in the context of modern, high gain Uber tones. While it does have a clean/crunch mode, it absolutely will not replace an Ecstasy, if you want those tones + feel. Not saying do, it is just that when I got my Uber Ultra, I was hoping it could cop some...

PRS McCarty 594 Singlecut discontinued ?

Thanks man! It is pretty understated, but that is really what I wanted. If you start to get tops like @LP Freak beautiful Steckel model he posted, then yes, the price gets steeper. I say steeper, because even though a very appointed Knaggs is not cheap, they don't get in to literal car prices...

PRS McCarty 594 Singlecut discontinued ?

I love my PRS's and was considering the 594. I ended up custom ordering a Knaggs Kenai in white, with an ebony board, black binding and BK poly-paf pickups for cheaper than I would have been able to get a plain off the shelf 594 for. Awesome sounding/playing guitar....every bit as good as a core...

    NVCD Vintage G12-65 content

Very very cool! I am a newbie to speakers from that era, but I recently picked up a Canadian 2204 with matching cab that came with the old vented G12t-75 speakers.....wow, do they sound good...and quite different to the newer ones, as has been discussed. Are there similarities between the old...

    Choosing a Diezel....

He is talking about the Wizard Rock Standard, which I also own. More punch, more clarity. Wizards have this over most amps, one of their hallmarks. Better feel (to me.....the RS feels like a hot plexi, which I prefer!) And waaaay more ways to sculpt your tone.

Fryette Fat Bottom vs. Friedman or others.

Maybe not quite the same as a new one, but my old rear loaded Uber Cab is fantastic; one of my "go to" cabs that sounds amazing with any head I plug in to it! I also have a newer Helios cab loaded with greenbacks that kicks alot of ass as well!

Deserted Island For Life...One Amp...One Guitar

Probably the Bogner 101b rig, which is one of my favorite amps ever. Definitely one of the best multi-channel amps. Sounds great, feels great to play and can do everything I would want to do. Guitar: my PRS 305, which has been modded at the PRS factory for me by the PTC team with a bridge...

Bogner Ecstacy 101B Differences Between New and Old Models?

I have had a 1996 and 2008 Ecstasy. Both 101b's. I really dug both; blue channel, which is my fave on that amp is stellar on either. I do prefer the pre-2004 red channel though. Ya, don't sell your Ecstasy if you don't have to. They really are one of the very best channel switcher out there in...

I don't understand the high end Pickup Market

If you ever get a chance to try the original 58/15 pickups that came out in 2015, but discontinued shortly after, definitely give them a go: clear, balanced and super versatile. Before I tried them in a 2015 McCarty I picked up, I was absolutely in the camp that automatically yanked PRS...

    Thomann bought Hughes & Kettner

I really liked my old Triamp mkII. As I have said before, is it going to offer a guitar forum gear head with a room full of old Marshalls, Hiwatts, Wizards, Larry's, etc something he needs? Probably not. But mine could do alot of things well for a channel switcher, felt good to play and was...

    BKP Polymath

Great description; exactly how I feel about them. Tight and articulate like most BK pickups, but the way the mids are voiced make them super versatile, easy to play (no weird freqs getting in the way of your playing). Really some of the best new pickups I have tried in a while. I have a set of...

    XTC blanket effect

So you would put your Ecstasy above your Wizard? I have not had the pleasure of owning or playing a Larry. I think for me, I would put my Wizard stuff above my old Ecstasy overall, but being without a 101b for a couple years now just makes me think they are just different and excel at...

    XTC blanket effect

Absolutely. With the A/Ab switch, new/old voicing, bright cap switches and low/hi inputs you can really find tons of great low to mid gain tones in the Ecstasy. And while it does have the signature Bogner low-mid growl, you can absolutely dial in some great Marshall and modded Marshall tones...
