Here's a video of a song I wrote being played on my Millimetric MGS3

Finally recorded a decent clip of this song. Criticism definitely welcome. In before, "practice with a metronome."

Convince me not to get a Blackstar HT-5

I really didn't want to start yet another conversation about a bedroom tube amp, but well...sorry. I'm chasing the ever-elusive perfect bedroom combo amp for practicing. It needs to take pedals well as I'll be tossing stuff in front of it and in the FX loop (if it has one). Budget: ~500. In...

NGD: ESP E-II Horizon - Are there fake ESPs?

Picked up the ESP today after playing it in the store. It feels great and I love the neck. Rolled edges are great. 24 frets on 25.5" scale. Pickups sound great, but why is the serial number a sticker? And it doesn't seem to adhere to the rules outlined here - ESP Serial Numbers I started...

Video I made with my newish Schecter

Yesterday: “99% returning this Schecter” After 2 hours of neck time: “Oh yeah, I’m keeping this thing” My first Floyd Rose so I’m going slow with its use. Most of my songs require the right hand to go go go so figuring out even when to weeeeeeee will require approaching writing a bit...

    Practicing with increasing BPMs

When you’re practicing something and increasing the speed, do you increase by a certain number on the metronome? I sometimes feel like 5 is too slow when practicing real slow, but 10 is too fast when sped up. You guys switch it up? In b4 u guiz r practicing?

    New Scowl Track

Certainly not for everyone, but this band is making their rounds in the hardcore/post-hardcore scene. New EP drops next month. I love seeing the gear they're using too: strat and a jag? One of their older tracks

Short clip of a custom Harvester guitar

Not sure if this is really Rig Talk's cup of tea, but I recently got this guitar in on trade. Made by a luthier in Australia, it's got a P90 in the neck, a minihumbucker in the bridge, 25" scale, and a fuckin formica countertop. I love that it's unique but obviously realize it's not for everyone...

NGD and Musician's Friend order lols

TLDR at the bottom 12/26 - I placed an order for a Schecter and a case. I was told that the guitar was not in stock and they'd be expecting some in the beginning of January. I told them that I was fine with waiting for them to ship me a brand new one. I got shipping notification for the case...

    I suck with a metronome

It's insanely frustrating and I know I just need to practice more, but I'm venting. I've been playing for 25 years, but no one ever told me to stfu and use a metronome before. I feel like an idiot. I'm trying to record some music and I've gone between "it's the software that's my limitation...

I saw the craziest thing at Guitar Center today…

This kid walked in, grabbed a guitar off the wall, and bought it. Didn’t hook it up to an amp, didn’t play it, I don’t think he even strummed it. I buy stuff online, sure, but given the opportunity to feel the guitar, I take it. Didn’t seem to faze the employee so I wonder how often that...

Play too much, practice too little

I find myself playing through a ton of material and when I get to a point of difficulty, maybe I’ll play the part two or three times but overall not enough. I play too much, don’t practice enough. Source: me Creds: none
