2204 gain pot value differences?

Hi guys! I currently have my 20 watt Origin modded to a 2204 that's using a 100k gain pot with no 470k/470pF treble peaker before the gain pot. Just a 2n2 cap from v1a into the pot. I'm wondering what differences there would be with a 1M gain pot and the 470k/470pF into it. Both sound wise and technically how it would be different.

The 470k//470pF acts as a high pass filter and cuts bass. It adds much needed high mids. The 1M gain pot changes the bass, feel, and also adjusts how much voltage hits the next stage’s grid.

Is that compared to having a 100k gain pot? Do you think I should add the 470k/470pF into it?

Put the 470pF cap in parallel with another 500k pot and then wire the pot as a variable resistor. Hook it up where the 470k//470pF would go and tune the pot by your ear.

Afterwards Change the gain pot to a 500k first before going straight to 1M. You may like the 500k more.

I always encourage trying stuff out :)

If you get stuck we are all here to help. Don’t forget to try different cap values too.

When you say in parallel with the pot, you mean from input to wiper, correct?

Basically this? Sorry, this is using some sketch app on my phone.

Close - take the right leg of the cap and connect it to the open pin on the right.

Short pins 1 and 2 on the left
