Attenuators question

Hi all.

So bought a two notes captor x (awesome) and I can’t wire it up to my setup so that I can mute the physical speaker for the amp without unplugging the speaker cable from the back of the captor x. I like to have everything in the studio “plumbed in”. Middle age, laziness, and OCD to blame 😆

Anyway, I understand from the two notes guys, that as soon as you plug a cable into the speaker output, you need a load on your amp, so I can’t get away with an A/B pedal. So my question for you guys is:

Can I run: Orange rocker 15 combo to captor x, captor X to (for example) Bugera power soak passive, power soak to combo speaker… safe in the knowledge that I’m not going to blow anything up, and I can fully mute… and have better control over, the sound coming from the amp speaker? As much as I love the captor, the 3 attenuation levels aren’t much use to me when I want to use the amp on its own. Thanks in advance for your help. Cheers

I can't speak to the Bugera power soak but on the surface I would think that would work as long as it is designed to take a load like that. Do you already have the Bugera? Because I was thinking something like a Radial Headbone would do that for you as that is what it is designed to do. As well as some Weber products. Anyway, free bump day. Good luck.

Thanks for replying. No I don’t have the Bugera unit yet. I was waiting for some advice before spending money. I’ll check out the headbone, thanks for the heads up

No problem. Again, not an expert. The Headbone will be more costly but you get what you pay for with this type of stuff. I personally would not buy anything Bugera. A quick glance tells me that that PS-1 you are probably looking at should probably stand for Piece of Shit 1.

For one it is not a Reactive load, which is what you want. It is $119 for a reason.

Maybe someone else will chime but I would be buying Radial or Weber if it were up to me.

Yeah ok. It’s true, buy decent… or buy twice. Thank you so much for the advice, I’ll look into it.
