Experimenting with dual preamp gains

I have a technical question. I tried 2 preamp gain pots in my 2204, but I think I prefer the classic circuit with 1 gain. Would setting either of the gain pots at a particular level give the same effect as just a single gain pot between v1a and v1b? This is my current preamp setup.

You are just adjusting the “drive or level” at v1a or V1b. How I describe it is as saturation, or gain level. You could set one gain at a level you like and fix it with a resistor at what the pot is set at and get rid of one gain control. I’ve tried this and it’s pretty cool and something fun to experiment with.
