I know your witchdoctor cleans up well via a guitars volume knob, i've owned a few.

How about with a volume pedal? I'm trying to achieve this idea where the heel position of the volume pedal would be crispy clean and the toe position would be the full out WD gain. Can this be achieved with a witchdoctor and a volume pedal out in front? thanks for your time!

Volume pedals are similar to the concept of the volume knob on your guitar. Granted it's not same and the quality/results vary by make and model.

Yes, depending on the pedal. The Ernie Ball volume pedals work well and that may be worth looking into.
