KT66 big bottle Hellions

So I’ve been experimenting quite a bit with KT66’s lately. I’m really liking the results. They are bigger sounding than an E34L and sort of balance the frequencies more. Not boomy at all.

These tubes are a lot more expensive but I’m contemplating moving over to these as standard in builds.

I just finished up this Hellion with KT66’s tonight. It will be going on loan to a guitarist from a pretty big band that will be taking it on tour at the end of the month. I’ll post more details on that a little later. But in very excited for it.

My latest is a Metro JTM45 with KT66's.
My first amp powered by these.
They sound great!

Plus, I give them a couple extra points because I think they look cool.

What are you running in V1?

I’m running JJ’s in all the preamp spots. I actually like the way they sound in my amp. And they are so reliable and quiet.

Would love to hear this. Ever done any KT88/6550 builds?

Haven’t used those in the Hellion yet. KT88 would really benefit from a specific transformer for them.
