Marshall high end dropping out

Modded superlead to what is prob close to a 2203 MV circuit. High end will drop out and sound like a blanket over the Amp. Not really loss in volume, just top end. When that happens, the TMB do not work correctly. B and T have zero effect and the M basically becomes treble.

So, the kicker is, when I crank the master and then drop down to normal volume (like you'd do with a scratchy pot (except it's not scratchy), it comes back to normal and sounds great. Until it drops out again.
Then it's twist master and back to normal.

Could it be as simple as a bad volume pot?

Trying to figure out before tech can take it in a few weeks.

Thanks
