Power tubes and wrench size

What brand of power tubes do you guys prefer to use and any major differences or preferences between E34L or EL34? And while we're at it any preamp tube recommendations?
And does anyone know the specific wrench size to use to remove the backplate screws, which on my amp seem to be Robertson wrench screws.

Tubes I tried some shuguang el34 but put back the jj e34l, I tried vintage Mullard in v1 but the jj sounded better. I think he voices amp for jj. I got lucky and had the right Robertson bit in tool drawer so not sure of size
 
My MTL came with JJ E34L's ... I have a few quads of groove tubes E34LS's and In my opinion, these are superior... The GT has more clarity and a sweeter top end with a touch more brightness and bite... Not blunt like the JJ's.
I have quite a few quads of Siemens, which I will try next.
