Tourmaster Contour knob

Hi, I was wondering what the contour knobs in Tourmaster really do? As far as I know it attenuates the mid frequencies, if so, what is the center frequency? Another use of it could be that it changes where the mid scoop accours. Which one of these?

I'm interested in taming the 2-3khz freq. from my Vintage 30's speakers. ( or/and boosting the 500 hz lower mids) can this be done using the contour knob?

im not sure of the frequency. there's a schematic floating around somewhere though.

an eq pedal before the amp, or even in the loop might serve you on a more tonally broad, and better than trying to force something that's not tuned to your need/preference.
