We had to put our Rusty down yesterday

He was a 12 year old long haired Dachshund. My kids have had him in their life for most of their years. Wednesday the doctor said he had cancer of the stomach and it was time. We had a family trip planned to the lake for Thursday, Friday and Saturday. She gave us meds to make him comfortable and he went on the trip with us. He played in the water, took boat rides, ate anything he wanted and spent time with the family. Took him yesterday to exit this life. Heartbroken and my kids were really struggling. We were all circled up and holding him for his last moments on this earth.

Sorry man. Sucks bad.
Had to put our 17.5 yr old down in height of Covid.
Have 3 more. Fortunately, Much younger.
Dreading the days.

Rusty’s brother, Stewart, joined him today on the other side. He has battled back issues for 6 months. He was doing pretty well then all of a sudden this morning he could barely walk. I could see the fear and pain in his eyes. It was time to let him go. Goodbye to my boy.
