After peering into both of my Herberts (04' and 09' respectively) there is a noticeable (even to the untrained eye) difference in attention to detail. I must say the newer Herbert looks very sloppy on most of the solder joints in the preamp section with some literally having solder bleeding over to other component solder pads. The power section was just about perfect. It is obvious the same person did not do the work. The older Herbert is immaculate on the inside in everyway. Not one suspicious joint or anything of the sort. Is this just a fluke (even if you say yes I will not beleive it)? What is the cause for this?

Lars made mine :aww:

Maybe I'll have to check the workmanship.  Seriously though, mines a 2006 and I've never had any issues with mine. Bought it brand new, so I have the lifetime warranty. ;)

This is the second thread on the forum You want to start discussing
about solder joints and complaining about build quality. We stay behind
the quality of our products.

What are You looking for ?

I was actually going to put a disclaimer in my thread about this not being a troll thread. I will take some pictures tonight if you do not beleive me. I am no amp builder/tech, or anything like that and I am not even saying that it makes a difference in how the amp sounds. What I am saying is that to the untrained eye (that being me and a couple others) the older Herbert seems to have been built with much more attention to detail. If this is a fluke then thats just that. But there is without a doubt a noticeable difference in the two. They both sound wonderful I can assure everyone of that.

well I dont care about the outer appearance as far as the amplifier sounds good...dude, where are we? fashion-week in NYC?

dunno, but I'm musician and even my amp had a rusty screw or what ever I wouldnt doubt the quality of P.Diezel's products...

I (and surely many others also do) would be the happiest human being on earth if I just would OWN one!! How do you say "Wohlstandsverwahrlosung" in english?

Good lord......have you ever looked into some of the chassis of the other amps built these days that are so called "Boutique Amps"? I have and it's a far cry from what I've seen in mine for sure. My friend has a brand new (name withheld due to respect for that company) and he insisted that he wanted to change the tubes and while we were doing this, I noticed the quality of things in there and it isn't even close to what goes into a Diezel. There is a reason why they sound so good.

My goodness.....grasping at straws.
I mean, when I look in my Einstein, it's a work of absolute art and neatness.
If you don't like the 09 Herbert...I'll take if off of your hands with a deep discount due to sloppy soldering

Seriously, who cares. Record some music, have some fun and enjoy the beautiful AMPS you have.
;)

I'm sorry to the rest of the forum, but I can no longer keep quiet.

This is a thread over at HCAF that mraajr put up yesterday. It has bloviated into 5+ pages so far. While it is not on this particular topic, it is stirring up "the pot" there from some formites.

While your concerns are understandable, you should have privately emailed Peter for questions regarding your observations, and possibly included pictures for him to comment on. Slightly imperfect solder points are simply showing further proof that Diezel amps are entirely hand-made, not machine fabricated.
If the electric solder point is correctly done and the dial or function it is attached too works as it should, why even bring it up publicly? It becomes a non-issue if the amp works as it should. Would this explanation sound reasonable to those reading this? Am I missing something here?
If I am, please correct me, as I have a lot to learn from those with a better insight into this.

To discuss this is bullshit!
I was two times at Peters factory in Bad Steben. There was nothing to complain about! THere is anything on it´s place, it´s very beatiful and they are so familiar. I enjoyed it so much being there that i would like to be there everyday. :D
And this is how their amp are made.

But who cares about some solder joints. I don´t give a f*** about the solder joints in my Herbert. And mine is made by Lars. And i had mine open a few times and everything looked almost perfect.

So lets close this thread because it´s really bullshit!

Solder your amps yourself eagleeye!

I believe he is looking for a barbed-wire enema! :gethim:
His avatar is showing his true feelings!
The thread he started yesterday is the second one of it's type there.
mraajr, you have great taste in gear, but your lack of personal class and tact are lacking, sir.

OP, you are obviously trolling. This is the second time (at least!) you have posted a thread here and over at HCAF in order to stir up trouble. You say one thing here and then go over to HCAF and say another. What is your problem?

Pictures will be had this evening....."slightly imperfect" is a far cry from what you will see in the photos. Why is addressing this in the Diezel forum so bad. ANytime someone has something questionable to say here you people go fucking nuts. C-4, HCAF has absolutely nothing to do with this. That thread has absolutely nothing to do with Diezel build quality. That thread is about the douche that is dragging this amp companies already controversial name through the dirt. Pretty sad really but again that has nothing to do with this. I was simply bringing up the obvious difference between an older Herbert and a newer one.

What have I said here that I did not say there or there other way around? This has nothing to do with trolling. My pictures will prove that. Thank you C-4 for you compliment about my taste in gear. Personal class and tact have nothing to do with this. If we met in person I am sure you would say otherwise. This is the internet and every now and again it is fun to "stir the pot" a little. If you notice I think I posted a total of 5 times in both of those threads combined. Those may have been "troll" threads but this certainly is not. My time on the internet is spiradic. I get the most done with the time I have

This is also the second thread you've started where you talk about the soldering on your amp. The first time, you said you would post pics. You never did. You then said you were perfectly happy with your amp and you were dropping the "issue." Now, you've brought it up again.

It's not that people "go nuts every time someone has something questionable to say about Diezel." It's the way in which you go about doing so. You even say, "every now and again it is fun to stir the pot." You are a troll and you admit to being so.

Maybe if you took some time to think about what you say, before you say it, you'd be received better.

It's strange that people think that their internet "identity" is somehow different from their real "identity." How you portray yourself is, indeed, how you are. I don't know you in "real life." But, I know you from how you portray and represent yourself here. You may view the internet as an excuse to behave in a way that you normally wouldn't behave in person, but that just shows others how immature you truly are. Say what you mean and mean what you say. Own your words and own your actions. Otherwise, you're just a troll.

It is fun to stir the pot....at HCAF where it is par for the course. How you portray yourself on the internet is how you are? Maybe you my friend but I can assure you that is not that case with everyone. I am not on the internet all day looking to be serious as hell like I have to be in my work life. I could care less how someone looks at me from my posts on an internet forum. It is the internet. I may meet 3 or 3 of you in my entire life. Why would i care if you thought I was "cool" or "mature" or a "troll"? If pictures are what you want I will get them.
