Can anyone help me? The boost switch on the foot switch of my Egnater Renegade stopped functioning. All others work well except that one. I contacted Egnater and was told by Nate that the cable was probably broken and that I should purchased a new foot switch from any store. I am not having any luck finding a store who carries just the foot switch or on eBay. Any other recommendations?

Thanks

Hello, When I first got my Renegade the foot switch was the only thing that I thought was cheep. The foot switch is built like a tank so why on gods great earth hard wire the cable, a week spot if ever was.
what you need is.....

or similar. You can then replace the cable on the foot switch and make your own up, I have the connectors but have not got round to do this mod yet.....Hope this helps

Keith,

Let me know how this goes. I had the same issue as my cable is messed up to where i cant use it and would like to replace the whole cable and love the idea of it NOT being hardwired. If this works for you would you be willing to do this mod for me? Obviously i would ship and pay you for your services. Let me know..

for some reason I posted the 8 pin plugs when we only need 5 pin.

These are the bits I'll get Monday to do the mod. I'm going to get the L Bend to keep everything neat on my pedalboard. It looks very easy to do and I'll post photos.
veets - I'm in the UK, would happily do the mod for you for free - but if your not in the UK it would get expensive, if you can solder this is easy honest.

Mod Done, 1 hour to do, no problems and very easy.
large photos to show how it was done here.....

Just curious- What's the advantage of doing this? I guess this is so you can disconnect the wire? What's the advantage of it?

Where the cable enters the FootSwitch, that's the weak spot. Egnater could have gone with a simple cheep midi cable plug. end of the day if your F/S stops working, it will be because a wire in the cable has broken, flexing at that weak spot. 20ft midi cables are cheep and available everywhere, spare Egnater F/S are as rare as rocking horse poo. all I'm showing is how simple it is to replace the cable IF your cable breaks, that's all.

Keith that is genius! I will definately be doing this mod. Do have one question. My footswitch cable seems to be defective further down the line so it looks like i will have to replace the whole cable. What cable do i need to get and how would i split it into the two seperate plugs at the end to go into the footswitch jacks on the back?

Glad I could help Veets, some of the posts on here sound like terminal cases, so when you can sort yourself with something simple it's the best day ever.

Get 2 of these

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PRO-SIGNAL-PS ... 2ebf2677c2

or similar and mount one in your FootSwitch then mount the other in

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VINCE-RAY-PIL ... 4845bcdbe1

or similar and turn it into a break out box with 2 stereo jack leads connected the din socket mounted in the tin, one of these cut in half.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Stereo-TRS-1- ... 43a8609fe5

then velcro the tin to the back of your amp.
You then need a 10meter or 20meter midi cable to connect your F/S and your cool breakout tin and your done.

Hope that makes sense, I'll make one up and post some pics.

I just had this problem Saturday night... amp and footswitch are practically brand new.. only been gigged three times! The footswitch has been living in my cable bag, and if that's all it took to break some wires in that cable, then WOW.

My channel switch button wouldn't work. When I stepped on it, the light would "barely" come on but the channel wouldn't switch. Stomping on it hard worked a couple of times, then the whole footswitch went wonky. Think I'll try this mod. My amp might still be under warranty, though.. think I'll go that route first.

I'm having a hard time sourcing these 5 pin connectors... anybody have a link or something for North America?
