anyone know the rating of these?

wattage
impedance

etc?

i emailed nate but he doesn't have it available, but said i could get one through egnater for 28$ shipped.

there are a few at the shop nearby for considerably less, but i need to know whats ok to put in as a replacement.

Same as the reverb driver transformers from Mojo, Magic Parts, New Sensor etc.... How did you determine the one you have is bad?

100K primary
8 Ohm secondary
1 watt (I think)

Thanks Bruce for the information...

I've actually been in contact with Nate about this, and he helped me determine that it could be the RT.

I've tried several different working 12ax7s in the reverb slot. I replaced the reverb tank with a brand new one, and checked the wires leading from the amp to the tank.

Does it make the "crashing" noise when you bump the pan?

That does narrow it down to the drive side. Have you checked anything with an ohmmeter or voltmeter?

no, but if you point me in the right direction, i can and will. should i just test for continuity, and ohm reading?

I don't normally tell someone to go inside an amp but it appears you have the knowledge to do this safely. There are lethal volages inside that can/will hurt or kill you. If you can, please carefully measure the DC voltages around the reverb tube Pins 1, 2, 3, 6, 7, and 8 and report back. Also, is the tube filament lit?

Also, I belive that transformer is more like 3 or 4 watt rating, but that really doesn't matter right now.

the tube filament does light.

but you know what Bruce, i honestly just dont' feel comfortable going in there with two metal probes in my clumsy ass hands today. i dont know if you mean with the amp on, or off, or off and discharged, so im just not going to do it.

Most of this is based on the fact that, last night i tried out with a band for the first time, and literally "dodged a bullet"!!! A drunk "friend" of the drummer picked up the singers loaded 9mm gun and pulls trigger...he was in the kitchen and we were going over a part to Tool's "sober" in the other room, of all songs!!!! He fired and blew a hole through the wall and destroying a 110 gallon fishtank and 2k worth of fish and it completely flooded the office downstairs and pretty much F'd up everything down there electronics wise... too many variables and scenarios that run through my head still, 15 hours later..so you can see where and why im not really all that comfy playing the "Final Destination" game with Death right at this moment.

but yes, the tube filament does light, LOL!

Take it somewhere to get it fixed. I would say your luck is good because you "dodged the real bullet" but I wouldn't push my luck if I were you. Yes, I do mean measure high voltages with the amp on!!! Don't do it if you don't feel comfortable. I also don't think it's a good idea to just start changing parts (transformer?) and hoping for the best. That would not be considered an acceptable troubleshooting technique and a potential waste of time and money. Of course, it is possible the transformer may be bad but there are ways to test for these things before just replacing parts.

Holy shit!

:scared:  :gethim:

yeah dude, it was surreal bro. i hope the dude that did it is ok. as with most stupid people that need "fixin", most of the time they never know they did something wrong anyways. so im sure he's fine.

Memo to self: Never accept an invitation to go to yeti's band rehearsals... ;)

I don't know- Sounds like they are not boring at least! ;-)

well, good news!! back to the reverb....so, i did part of the "M" mod myself. pretty easily actually.

i changed R68 from 10k to 4.7k.

and i combined R243 with c180, and then added the .001u cap.

while i was in there, i followed the leads from the Reverb transformer to where they plug into the pcb board.
i moved them up and down, and one was actually really loose...somehow, it was beside it (meaning the post was between the shielding and the clip, making contact sometimes, instead of the clip being all the way on the post). either way, im assuming i shook it loose while playing it. i put it back on.

hooked the amp up, while it was on my desk and played through it to see how 2/3 of the "M" mod sound...and was really blown away.

i also had replaced some of the led's in the footboard back in the fall...one being an ultraviolet bright blue one that i put in the reverb led position in the footswitch...it's pretty sexy too! i had forgotten all about it. I flicked on the reverb on the footswitch while playing (hooked obviously to the amp), and lo and behold, i noticed that there was a very obvious high end boost...so i turned the reverb knob all the way on...and it was REALLY REALLY noticeable...i really liked it...but also thought...HEY, i think my reverb circuit is back in business....
so, i put the amp back in the combo, hooked up the reverb leads....voila`....i have reverb again!

i gotta say, 2/3 of the "M" mod makes an already KILLER amp sound murderously good...really transparent and much more clear on the lows and mid lows...i love what im hearing...

so, i guess my next question would be: what exactly did i do to the amp, by changing R68 and R243?
my guess would be one is the bass mod because its WAY tighter feeling. and the top end would be the other?
(i notice a WAY MORE friendly top end. it's more useable and not as harsh/pointy sounding with the treble knob above 12:00).

what is R79 (change from 2.7 to 1.5)?? im guessing it is the gain increase, because, i didnt notice any more gain in the amp, but i DID notice that now, when i dial in the mids above say...2:00...some more gain seems to come through, and it's really nice sounding.

or am i all wrong with what me ear seems to tell me?

anyone?

Bruce,

If you could help me here, i measured the DC voltage at pins 1/2/3/6/7/8

pin 6 gave a reading of 137.

all other pins were 0

I don't know what we are talking about. Please clarify?

Read above please sir. you told me to measure the DC voltage of the pins on the reverb tube.
