Here is a pretty simple board that was wired up for Billy Duffy of the Cult. Signal chain is Ts-808-Love Kalamazoo-Whirlwind Boost-Boss tuner-Boss Noise suppressor-Phase 100-Boss Flange-Boss Dm-2-Boss DD-3- Boss DD-3 into a custom amp selector out to a Matchless, Jc120 and a Marshall. Enjoy

Looks great, Dave! So, has Billy dumped his rack all together?

Thanks for sharing Dave.

Interesting config Billy uses. Noticed the black tape on the settings too. Very specific :)

This is a very clean looking pedalboard. Nice.

Now it's reality check time and slap in the face to forum guys everywhere, if a regular guy posted these pedals on a pedalboard and said "check out my rig" eyes would roll from forum to forum. There would be a "better", more difficult to obtain and substantially more expensive suggestion for every pedal on that board.

I mean, sure, it's good enough for Billy Duffy out recording albums and touring the world, but I don't know if it's good enough for me at the corner bar and in the basement.

He said in a recent guitar magazine that he doesn't tour with his expensive boutique pedals, so evidently he has some. He also said that he likes these, as they are reliable and easy to replace anywhere in the world.

Duffy has probably had that Boss DM2 since the recording of "She Sells Sanctuary" in 1985! It sure looks like it has a few stories it could tell.....

Those are awesome and worth a fortune. I had one years ago and wound up selling it when I need some cash. They sound amazing. I remember when he had a whole rig for sale on Ebay many years ago...and it went extremely cheap. Like no one knew who it was. The gear alone was worth more than the final bid. It made me sad. He is so awesome.

Just like I like it. Simple pedals, in front of the amps. Duplicate pedals for various settings. Nice custom amp switcher too Dave.

I like that a lot, it's always nice to see a board with off the shelf stuff.

Most of those guys have every pedal made; stored somewhere.

Some just don't care, I met a few few that just get what works and leave it at that. Me I would buy everything, but things like this remind me the mass produced stuff works just as well.

sigh. I have never gotten delay into the front of an amp (with gain) to sound good. Dont know how these guys do it. Cool board as always.

Agreed, it has never worked for me either.

Does anyone know how?

Well, the intro to She Sells Sanctuary isn't really distorted. . .pretty clean actually. And, many guys who use delay in front have it set to like a one repeat slap so it doesn't really get a chance to get degraded by the gain. Secondly, I'd bet his main tone isn't 'too' distorted. . .more of a loud-ass Marshall tone.

I don't think he uses Delya that much. I like using delay BOTH in the loop and out front. Try playing cathedral from VH, IMHO it's much easier to do it with delay out front, but the tone Eddie used isn't that distorted. And for 1 repeat slapbacks, delay works ok out front with gain.

Of course with high gain leads delay is better in the loop to give that cool ambiance. And reverb with any gain is better in the loop.
