Splawn Small Block vs Big Block vs V30 (clips!)

My friend let me borrow his new(used) Splawn 2x12 cab. It sounds killer. Has the Small Block/Big Block combo. Put some new strings on one of my guitars and tuned it up to drop D. Here are some clips of each speaker (SB, BB, V30) and some combos also. Guitar was straight in with the gain a hair below 3, volume at 2(loud enough for a drummer), Bass,mid and treble at noon, Depth at 11 o'clock and Presence at 10 o'clock. Single SM57 pointing at the outer edge of the dust cap. All clips are 100% raw. I need to get myself one of these cabs. :rock:

#1 Splawn Small Block in the Splawn 2x12 cab


#2 Splawn Big Block in 2x12 cab


#3 Celsestion V30 in a Peavey VTM 4x12


#4 Splawn SB on the Right and BB on the Left


#5 V30 on Left and Right


#6 Small Block on Right and V30 on Left


#7 Big Block on Right V30 on left


#8 Small Block on right and V30 on left with drums (no bass :thumbsdown: ) and more riffs.


#9 (new) Same as above but I played my guitar through a bass amp sim in Garageband(sucks not having a bass) and added some comp and reverb to the drums. Guitars are raw.

Cool, I like speaker comparison clips. I think all of the speakers sound good. I'd probably take the V30's for high gain and the SB's if I was going for a more classic rock tone. I laugh when V30's get shit on, and laugh even harder when they always sound great in clips.
 
Nice job, not sure which one I like best but damn that must of been a shitload of work. Is this modded peavey if I remember correctly

v30s are what i use to record high gain sounds with.

it just sounds right.

not my favorite live speaker though!

Thanks man, I love the amp. It has a diode clipping switch too that is really cool but I did not use it. Actually hearing your Cali and Cameron clip inspired me to get off my ass and record these little speaker clips before my friend picked up his cab, which he just did about 20 minutes ago. :lol: :LOL: Your Cali sounds bad ass for sure.

I do like the V30s best but those SBs are a really close 2nd. I need to get a pair of them for some extra flavor.

Added a new clip with faux bass. :lol: :LOL: Played my guitar through a bass amp sim in Garageband and tweaked the drums a little.

So far I'm liking the Splawn SB and the V30 the best!
 
So the only slight issue I had with the SBs(not a deal breaker) was that they were not as loud (db) as the V30s. I could put 2 SBs on top and the V30s on bottom I guess. What other speakers are very similar to the Splawn SBs? I know the SBs are similar to some sort of Greenback, but aren't there several versions of Greenbacks?
