2011 R9 Sunrise Tea Burst. Got it from Mark's Guitar Loft.

Photos are a little too yellow. It's got more amber and gold in it in person. Kind of shimmers. :) It arrived earlier this afternoon. Very happy with it so far. But I've only put about two hours of play time through it. Action is perfect. No fret buzz anywhere that I can tell. Fretboard is very nice — has some swirls and various colored grain. Looks better than the Brazilian board I had on my PRS.

Sounds pretty good. Not a huge fan of the Burstbuckers, though. I'll probably swap 'em out for some Bareknuckle Riff Raffs. Though, I'm also considering the Rebel Yells or even the Rio Grande BBQ. Haven't decided yet. But it's got some chunk to it and has thicker mids than my Customs. But they are a bit more aggressive and focused. This one is a little "wider" if that makes sense.

Overall, it plays a lot better than my two Customs. Though, I have my '84 in for a refret. So hopefully that one plays just as good when I get it back. But, very happy!

Happy NGD! Sweet looking guitar and I am flat out jealous.

Enjoy it!

Awesome score man. I dig it a lot; glad you found one you could live with. Transition harder for variances in the neck sizes from the LPCs or doesn't bother you?

The necks on my Customs are much thinner. I prefer the thicker neck on the R9. In fact, what I was really searching for was an R8 (for the even thicker neck). But I decided to go with this one. The neck profile isn't really round or a "C" shape. It feels more like it's pointed. Not a "V." But not perfectly round, either. I like it, though. No complaints.

i find that standards and customs have totally different feel and sound.

the customs have a more u shaped neck.

the r9 is more c shaped.

that said, i like the thicker r8 and r7 necks

call me crazy, but i feel i can actually play faster on em!

o yeah, i hate those burstbuckers

i think they are the only pickups that i have heard that can be muddy and shrill at the same time!

amazing!

That's a good way of putting it. They have a thick low-end and a bright top-end. But the mids are sort of airy and hollow, which I like. But they still gotta go. :)

Love the top. I'm a fan of subtle flame tops or plain tops with a good grain pattern.

I'm a sucker for quarter-sawn fiddleback flame. That way you get a really tight, uniform checkered pattern. But this top isn't quarter-sawn. :( But it has character. I really like the mineral deposits. :)

the phil jacoby refret LPC will play the best..

lol we shall see! I hope they both play well. Maybe his refret will be better than the stock Gibson Pleked stuff. But no getting around the larger neck on this one. :)

That thing is pure sex. People may rag on Gibson, and they have a lot of legit reasons to do so, but when you find a quality one, it's definitely worth it. My R7 is just a tone monster, and it plays amazingly well.

Yeah. I agree. I've played a couple Historics/Reissues that were just awful. That's one reason why I went with this one from Mark's. He sources and plays all the guitars he sells. So you kinda know they aren't duds.

Congrats Dude!! That looks awesome!!  I dunno, I kinda like BBs, adjust'em up and down a little and give'em a chance, they might grow on you! I have to agree on the larger necks, I def prefer them over thin necks now. Def jealous!!

Whoa :inlove:

That guitar is a stunner!!! Absolutely beautiful. Huge congrats, I'll be drooling over this one too (along with your PRS SC)

Wow, that's the coolest looking top I've seen on a 2011. I dig the finish also!
