Not sure yet as I'm redoing my rig. It'll be stompbox pedal board->amp->line out of amp->intellifex->to VHT 2/50/2. Everything controlled by gcx/gcp.
You won't really lose any tone going through the Intellifex--it's one of the rare digital rack units that doesn't run your dry signal through A/D/A conversion (analog pass-through). So, depending on the configuration you have:
(1) Combo Amp + Power Amp (1 speaker) -- Pedalboard -> Amp -> (amp line out) -> Intellifex (L/Mono In) ->
-> Intellifex L out -> FX return on Combo Amp
-> Intellifex R out -> VHT poweramp -> speaker cabinet
or...
(2) Combo Amp + Power Amp (2 speakers) -- Pedalboard -> Amp -> (amp line out) -> Intellifex (L/Mono In) ->
-> Intellifex L out -> VHT Poweramp L input -> speaker cab
-> Intellifex R out -> VHT Poweramp R input -> speaker cab
If you were doing a Wet/Dry to keep the signals balanced better, there's a very easy way to do this on the Intellifex: patch an expression pedal to control Effect Level for each preset, and you're set! It's like having a mixer for free (well, technically it is, it's all in there), and you can even control levels for Left and Right dry signals passing through the Intellifex as well. In fact, those two metal split chorus presets require this, because they kill one side of the dry signal and replace it with a modulated delay, sometimes two for some extra thickness.
