I was bored so I recorded this riff with my Randall RD5 Diavlo to show the tone difference using the TSS switch. Here's how it breaks down: Gain was at 1 o'clock, Tone knob at 11 O'clock and Volume at 2 O'clock for all segments.

Segements:
1. TSS (tone stack shift) left position
2. TSS middle position
3. TSS to the right
4. TSS to the left boosted with a BBE Green Screamer (level at 3 O'clock, Tone at 9 O'clock, Gain at Zero)
5. TSS Middle boosted
6. TSS to the Right Boosted
Segments 1-6 are a single guitar track
7. Double tracked with segment 1 and 4 tracks with bass and drums
8. Double tracked with segments 2 and 5 with bass and drums.

By this time your probably sick of that damn riff.
Recorded with a SM57 on a Celestion G12k-85 speaker. All guitar and bass tracks are raw. I just add some compression and reverb to the drums.

EDIT: By request I attempted a lead type thing so you can hear that kind of tone along with a non heavy rhythm behind it after the first riff. Lead tone has the TSS switch to the left, the tone knob down to 10 O'clock and a little delay from my Vox delaylab as well as a bit of reverb from Garageband.

Wow, what a great clip from this little amp. Well done.

The one thing i can take from all these chugga clips is that the circuit/amp is "juicy". I like that.. seems like it would be easy to play for leads. Thanks for the clips.

Thanks, and I agree that it is really cool for playing leads especially with the TSS switch to the left. Maybe I can attempt to do a little lead thingy. Dry or with a little delay?

Pleeeeease..DELAY of course!

I'm no lead player but here ya go. Non-chuggish too. Just a little delay from my Vox Delaylab and a bit of reverb from Garageband.

That sounds really good... you kind of had some Lynch feel going there. Almost as if this is the tone Lynch wished he still got! I'd describe that as chewy mids. I like it.

Sounds fantastic man!!

How about something unboosted?

Thanks man. Actually in that last clip the only thing that was boosted was the right rhythm guitar track on the heavy riff part. I normally don't boost but when I made the clip in the OP, I figured I'd give unboosted and boosted clips since there are a good number of people here that always boost.

Awesome. Thanks man. You just made this decision for me haha. I've been on the fence about getting an RD20 for a while, but I'm no longer on the fence. Grabbing one as soon as I have the money.

I'm still totally on the fence trying to decide between the 20 and 45 myself. As far as boosting goes, Does it need a boost to sound good? IMO, Hell no! Does it sound killer with a boost? He'll yeah. That's a win/win deal there.

Thanks, putting the TSS switch to the left boosts the mids and really softens up the tone. Very cool for some lead work.
