Got this awesome Charvel last week. I added a set of zebra Duncan Custom and Jazz, and also installed my 80's Floyd to replace the Korean version.

The guitar plays better than any USA ProMod I've had, the fretwork is better, and the rolled edges of the board make the neck feel like an old friend. It's just an awesome sounding and playing guitar! I even got used to the direct mount pickups.

The neck also has some serious figuring - a keeper for sure!

I hate you.  I had one of these and sold it, like a dumbass. Been looking for another one and have just barely missed a few.

Ha! Hopefully you can find another one - they are killer guitars!

Every time I talk myself out of buying a Charvel one of you guys do something like this and my gas returns.

Problem is, unless you buy a USA or MIJ Charvel, the newer Mexican ones have a recessed Floyd (which I hate on a Charvel)!

Great guitars. Had a baby blue one a few years back, great player. Played some USA production that played worse..my custom shop kills them all but those MIJ charvels are some of the best bang for the buck out there! Congrats!

That is funny, because that is the one thing I wish my MIJ had sometimes. I keep thinking about routing it.

Love these guitars. I had a tele style pro mod a couple of years ago and thought the neck was great. What is utterly stupid to me is that you have to take the neck off to do a truss rod adjustment.

trem stop - dive only

Congrats! I have one with almost exactly the same mods, great playing guitar! I have DiMarzio Super distortion in the bridge and a somethingorother in the neck, both zebra, and put cream pickuprings in too.

This one's a keeper for sure!

That is my only major gripe with these. I have a USA SoCal and a MIJ San Dimas and love them both. The MIJ neck feels slightly better, even though both are awesome, and the same gauge strings are slinkier.

FWIW, the MIJ is a hardtail, H/S pickups, and has an ebony board.

That's one thing, the other is they should make some with a 1 5/8th nut. Or do they?

The nuts are 1 11/16, nice and wide! I was going to install pickup rings, but I kinda like the clean look of no rings.

PS-- I can get the neck off, and adjust the truss rod, then get the neck back on - in less than 4 minutes, without removing the strings!

looks like you got one with some flame maple for the fingerboard
I own the so cal version MIJ(along with a old 1981 san dimas,a MIA pro mod san dimas, custom shop
legacy,25th anni, and a nitro relic which is to die for and the closest to the old ones)
and the MIJ can really hang.
Love the rolled FB and lightly oiled neck.
The new MIM's have recessed floyds so i wont touch em.
Ps, the truss rod adjustment does not bother me. I dump the string tension with the bar
and take of the neck screws out using a powered drill with the phillips tip.
take's me 5 mins to adjust a charvel neck
just as fast as the standard placed truss rods for me. :D

That looks great. Congrats.

Yea, it looks better w/out the pup rings.

I agree! That's how I do it, nice power screwdriver, guitar face down on a towel. Hold the neck to the body while removing the screws. Then, the neck comes off, make a quick adjustment with a screwdriver, neck goes back on. Simple, now!
