I am wondering about Buxom type cleans more so though

Yeah I love the idea of buxom like cleans.

Ch1 = Buxom Betty (I'd settle for JJ cleans)
Ch2 = Butterslax Ch2 with no diodes (or JJ BE mode)
CH3 = Butterslax Ch3 with switchable diodes

This would only add one knob. I get real cleans and I get to keep my JJ BE channel plus add the Butterslax Ch3 with or without diodes.

Controls would be:

Thump
Presence
Bass
Middle
Treble
MV3
MV2
Gain 2
Gain 3
Boost 3
Bass
Middle
Treble
MV
Volume

Yep that would do it.

get the SS clean!

Ive played both, and agree with the maker^
Im sure 100w makes a difference also.

To be fair though, that was before I discovered the "S" switch on the BE50. The Butterslax is voiced a little heavier but its closer than most people would think.

So what is the S switch doing for you in this context? More aggressive? What settings are you using with the BE and HBE and S switch engaged?

Cheers!

Doesn't the Butterslax have the clippers right on the 1meg pot coming from the pin 8 cathode follower, 10K, .1uf so that the clipper is on at all times dirty? That is clipper and high gain. I prefer the clippers off. Plus the BS feeds the PI cap by Treble Wiper not MN wiper...♫ :)
