ENGL Savage 120 - Noise issue FX Loop

Hello,

I have problems with my ENGL Savage. It is just too noisy. Even with Boss NS-2 (really doesn't reduce the noise and on my 6505+ i had before it just killed the whole noise instantly). When I plug anything in FX loop (e.g. Digitech Hardwire delay), i just become unplayable. Just a loud, unignorable noise. Please, could anyone tell me, how to handle this ? Would changing of preamp-tubes help me ?

Noise is simmilar to classic noise on distorted channel, just much louder.

!llusioneR,

I just changed out my entire preamp tube section and it helped the noise in my amp tremendously. I used some NOS tubes that I read about in old threads on some other forums and also used some new tubes. I switched mine as follows:

V1 - Jan GE 5751
V2 - RFT ECC83
V3 - RFT ECC83
V4 - Electro-Harmonix 12AX7 Gold Pin
V5 - Electro-Harmonix 12AX7 Gold Pin
V6 - Electro-Harmonix 12AX7 w/ Matched Triodes for the Phase Inverter

I have not had my Savage very long though. How long have you had yours? Has it always been kind of noises?

Hope this helps somewhat.

Alex

Tubes are fickle creatures, be happy tou found it easily. Noise gate in fx loop before delays/reverbs will silence most anything.
