Here I played the same solo with 3 different rigs. I didn't try to make the mixes sound the same or clone the amps, just 3 different performances of the same solo into my 3 different rigs.
Guess, tell me what you think and why. We already know the "too much gain" stuff " :)

Also tell me which one you liked the best or least and why...try to be kind lol.

The tube heads used the same cab and mics. CAA 3x12" v30's, E609, SM57

Rigs not in order:
Suhr OD100se+
AxeFx Ultra
Egnater Seminar Head

I also re-listened to the solo and made corrections, there is a breakdown of the gear and a solo lesson at the end with the fixes.

some reason i reckon the first is the Axe , sounds like there's more EQ/processing in there,

not sure of the other two, but thinking the second amp is the CAE and the last one is Egnater, they're more Top endy,

solo 2 has more bite which i like, great playing as always =0 interesting to see the results

I'm not even going to try, you could throw a Pignose 7-100 with half dead batteries into the mix and make it sound exactly like a Herbert.

getting any closer to becoming a yankee doodle dandy and denouncing your loyalty to the Leafs?

Yea, solo 1 has that weird "mid range" thing going on that the Axe Fx has in a lot of videos I've watched. Sounds like Boston's guitar tone.

Dude! What Guage of strings are those?? thx j

I use 9-42. My bending and vibrato are exactly the same with 10-52 tuned to pitch.....it just hurts more (old fucker elbow pain). With the 9-42's I can play live 3 sets for 3 nights without pain :)

Thanks Jimmie. As far as immigration goes, things are moving in the right direction :)

They all sound similar but i'm saying...........................

1] Axe

2] Suhr

3] Egnater

Lets keep guessing :) Don't forget to give some reasons for your guesses :)

I guessed Egnater, AxeFx, OD100se+ for no damn reason other than it seamed like a semi-logic choice to me. All sounded good!

This is how I picked. I was listening for that open OD100se sound and thing I found it 3rd. I thought 1 was the Egnater because the previous vid for it seemed to have a strong upper mid that almost moved the entire tone up, #1 seemed most like that.

00:19 - 01:35 - so fuckin' grainy, my bet it's the Axe-Fx
01:40 - 02:49 - pronounced lower mids, I guess it's CAA OD100
03:00 - 04:17 - more upper mids than the previous Solo 2, I think its the Egnater

So my vote goes to No. 3

I like the 3rd the most and the first the least (to grainy for my ears) :)

No 1. Axe FX. It sounds oversaturated (not overgained) and the cutoffs seem too 'nice'.

No 2. Egnater. Sort of has a weird midrange quality without much lows or highs and actually reminds me of the only time I've ever played an Egnater in the local guitar store. I'm going with Egnater on this one.

No 3. Suhr. Reminds me of your previous videos of when you used the CAA amp.

EDIT: Upon second listen, I may want to change selections 1 and 3, 3 being the Axe, but I'm not too sure.

Post:EDIT. Yes, I am fairly certain that the order goes OD100, Egnater, Axe :D

1.Axe FX : i think i hear some fizzy sound

2.Egnater : the mid range seems quite unfammiliar

3.CAA : seems like i heard t before

Great job!

Everything sounds so over processed it's hard for me to distinguish tones man.
The stereo imaging doesn't help either.

......but...great playing! :D

FWIW, I did guess correctly before scrolling down and seeing the answer listed. My reasoning was that since the same cab and mics were used for the Egnater and OD100se+, these two clips would sound pretty similar. The second and third clips sounded similar. I basically guessed which of these two was the Eganater and which was the OD100se+. I liked the third clip slightly more than the second, so I thought it might be the OD100se+. The first clip is definitely the "odd man out", so I labeled it the Axe-Fx since I expected the Axe-Fx to exhibit something different from the other two.

Great stuff, Mark! Thanks, and keep it coming and keep us guessing! These clip tests are illuminating and fun.
