. . . I need some opinions about our latest demo-recording (cover band, applying for gigs).

Your thoughts?

Thanks.

My ears are shot right now, had the wet/dry rig blasting yesterday

Sounds good, the dirty rhythm guitar level could be bumped up a tad or re eq'd, seems to be getting buried just a tad. Maybe some upper mids.

Sounds good :)

BTW that white Herbert at NAMM :o

sounds pretty good for the most part

i agree that driven guitar sounds kinda dark/buried

the kick drum could come thru a bit more

vocals are solid for the most part, a few tiny rough spots here and there, singer kinda sounds like he's nervous or holding back a little

very solid overall tho, nice playing

I agree that I think the dirty rhythm is pretty pushed back. Other than that, it's pretty good. Good tone and playing.

I say:

Knock all vocals back 6db
Bring the distorted guitar up 3db

Just my brutally honest opinion.

The acoustic is dominating the mix. If that’s what you’re looking for then it’s good. But to me it almost sounds like a version of "un-plugged".

Also, the rhythm guitar sounds way too distant and buried under the acoustic.

Last, the vocals are consistently slightly flat. Maybe it’s not a comfortable range for the vocalist but he’s definitely flat. Also, the vocals are too loud.

I agree with King Crimson. Especially the vocals, they sound kinda sheepish.

I wanted to hear honest opinions :)

Thanks !

Since I'm not a native I don't get what sheepish means though :-(

Ahh sorry - sheepish means lacking in confidence, or timid. The singer just seemed a little self-conscious about his performance.
