Any helpful links or anything for the modes?

Forget that stuff.

Learn the proper feel first...THEN learn all the technical stuff.

You will be SOOOOOOOOO much further ahead than by doing it the other way around.

It is also harder to get the proper feel/vibrato/bend technique down than just learning to flail around on the fretboard, but it is well worth it.

I learned all the shed stuff first THEN learned how to feel my way through a solo and to this day wish I had done it the other way around (even though I don't do much lead work at all any more othe than melody type stuff....grew out of my shred phase 10 years ago or so :P ).

Im gonna check out this clip in the morning Mark, as its late and i have no idea where my headphones are!

Il agree with Danyeo, Hotel California is a great one to learn feel and bending. Feel and bends and vibrato are the most important things to get first before you start messing round with huge speed licks or anything.

Oh and like Tjon, i cant work out how the hell to use modes. It makes no sense to me at all and iv been playing 11years now. Its the theory i dont understand, but luckily my ears are almost spot on so i can play most of what i hear! Im not very big on theory myself, but more about feel.

Maybe subconsciously i understand modes, but if i try explain it i have a hell of a lot of trouble trying to! :D

I agree with learning the technical side later on AFTER you get established playing. Learn to play with feel and develop your ear first. You don't need to know theory or read music to be a great player. It certainly helps if you want to be a pro, though. I like this for Scales and Modes. Its really extensive. Your playing sounds good ,man. Keep it up. http://www.guitargrimoire.com/gt01.htm

Modes are basically just scales, guys. If you can play melodic minor descending, you can play aeolian. If you can play harmonic minor, you can play phrygian. They go hand-in-hand.

It sounded like Mike Amott if he was a drunk hippy midget with a mental disorder. No offense :rawk:

That's interesting.. it's a different author and he's a blues guitarist. This looks old and he probably sold the rights to the new author as if you look under testimonials you find his name. It could also be bullshit scam. It's ebay, after all. I could not find anything under his name for authoring 'Guitar Grimoire' in Google http://www.guitargrimoire.com/testimon.htm ...looks like bullshit scam to me

Hmm, I think I'll pass on those. I'll just go with the one you linked me to, since that's the one I remembered.
