Where is Appice?

Im sure this is after the 2nd album (Nothin But Trouble) because Marco Mendoza is on bass instead of Tony Franklin..

I just watched the video and realized I saw this same tour in Austin back in 93 or 94. I remember being freaked out because he used 5150's for that tour IIRC. :o

Are you sure it wasnt Racktifiers? I know Sykes had a rack setup that had a Racktifier, a Triaxis, Lexicon PCM 41 and PCM70, Rack Wah and a H&H V800 Poweramp. I thought he used that on this tour but i could be wrong!

You could be right, Dan. For some reason I think it was 5150's...

I saw jake E. Lee within a couple months of that Blue Murder show when he was playing with Mandy Lion in Wicked Alliance. Jake definitely had 5150's. Maybe I'm mixing them up? :?

Could be, to be totally honest he may have just used his Marshall heads because that sounds so similar to the tone on the Screaming Blue Murder live cd (which was all Jose modded Marshalls!)

I swear , Sykes and Yngwie are the Vibrato Champions of the friggin world...

I agree completely!!!

I love it when Sykes does pinch harmonics with absolutely huge vibrato!!! 8)

That first Blue Murder album is a must-have.
I like the fretless bass sound in such a heavy band.

I think thats like the trademark sound of Blue Murder, and what made them stand out in a way. Obviously Sykes' playing and writing obviously is the key to their sound but i just loved the way Tony Franklin played with that slinky groove feel the whole time!

:rawk: :bang: :\m/:

Just for the record, I don't recall sykes ever using 5150's. I do know that there was a show that he did that he shared the stage with a band that was using 5150's and there backline of amsp were on stage with him but I don't think that he was playing though them. That said, I think Drew (John Sykes' Webmaster) is a member here and probably could chime in. Im pretty sure that he never used a 5150.......... unless someone can positively verify it. ;)

John has never used 5150's. On the that video Carl linked to, John is most likely using a combimation of a rack mounted Dual Recto and a Mesa IIB.

Sykes is one of my all time favorites.

The volume knob and pickup switch selector checks that he does an average of 237 times per song is pretty hilarious. Makes him look like a mental patient. A mental patient with huge tone and great vibrato!
