Having owned one of the famed RG 100s this albums tone just kills. Makes you think thats all I need!

thoughts...Without warning!

I like the Tooth and Nail tone, but then when I listen to Under Lock and Key it just sounds better to me personally :)

Still I wouldn't mind trying one of those Randalls someday just for fun....

As with all things/amps some people will love it and others will hate it. I remember Lynch taking a beating from critics for that tone. TO be honest with you, I kind of dug it back then! I think my favorite Lynch tone was from Under lock and key but with that said, I think the lead sound of the randall killed!

Ya ULK sounds like he learned how to get it! But fuck, take a solid state amp and make it sound like TAN just amazes me that he was still looking after recording that album! He had a Marshall on BTC and went to the randall....I need to buy another one!

I have an RG80 head, it's a one trick pony but it's a good trick!

Ya I loved mine but needed an amp that got semi dirty..and it couldnt do it. But for just letting it go for 80's rock...please.

TAN was his best tone IMO....ULK sounds too much like a Rockman.

Ya my feeling is that ULK was more processed! Thought about long when recording. TAN was just mic it and play and hit record!

My favorite Lynch tone from Dokken was from Beast From The East. That tone kills! And the best part to me is that it's live tone.

Tooth and Nail is not my favorite Lynch tone but I was so blown away by Lynch that I just did not care. Great tone from a great player is just icing on the cake for me anyways.

BFTA has killer tone as well imo but my fav will always be WS

WS is my second fave tone of his. BFTA is ok, I used to really like it, but recently got the cd out and don't like it that much....

+1 In fact "Under Lock and Key" was the best tone I had ever heard at that point. I definitely tried to model my live tone after that sound back then...

Didn't he use a Boss EQ with the Randall on Tooth and Nail?

I thought that he used a tube screamer in front of the Randall. I had not heard of him using an EQ but it is certainly possible!

He used a DOD rack Graphic EQ with the Randall, as well as a digital delay. Not sure about the Tubescreamer.

It's hard to find gear that George HASN'T used.

Between TAN and Dimebag's early tone, I will never sell my RG80 head.

Sure you will, and I'm going to buy that fuzzy little bitch from you. :D
