I bought a MK50 II a few months ago and have been floored at how great it sounds, both in the studio and in rehearsal. The amp is very versatile, and surprisingly gets great metal rhythm tones, even though I hear it was designed to be more of a lead player's amp. I also hear the original model didn't have quite as much gain on tap but I don't know for sure.
I play it with 6l6's and so far it cuts through the mix better than any other amp I have rehearsed with or jammed on before. The EQ controls are very powerful and I find that I rarely fidget with the knobs like my previous Mesas and Bogner Uber. The clean tone is to die for...
I also tried a hellcat but wasn't nearly as impressed.
